Hello Everyone,
it's that time of year again! Aren't you excited?!
This is your taditional thread of introduction. You can tell us as much or as little as you like :D
My name is Liv, and I am your regional ML. This is my 5th NaNoWriMo and my 2nd year as a Municipal Liason. I like candle light dinners and long walks on the bea- oh... hi! Disregard that...
The first time I did NaNo in 2003, I was completely overwhelmed. My best friend pretty much conned me into doing it, I had no idea about the plot or anything else when I first started. While I made only 10,000 words, I felt hugely accomplished, because I had not written anything of that proportion in a long time. I continued my NaNo journey and mastered it last year, take THAT 50,000 words bwuahahaha! NaNo has become a very comforting time of year. November used to be that first long stretch of grey when you aren't quite adjusted to the coming of winter yet.
So, why do you do NaNoWriMo?

I'm gonna eat your socks!

Hey all,
I'm Nic and this will be my second NaNo. Won last year in, like, 15 days, so the pressure's on to do it again this year. We'll see, I suppose.
No clue what I'll be working on. As always, a million ideas bouncing through my skull and no inclination to commit to any of them. Anyone else have that problem? *g*
I NaNo because I'm a sucker for challenges. Also, because I tend to procrastinate. Also, because there's something about talking to people who get "it", whatever that whole writing thing is, that hooks me hardcore. I've got loads of online friends who can relate, but it's somewhat harder to find locally, so those write-ins last year were quite definitely beneficial experiences for me, even if I didn't get much actual writing done at them. *g*

~Hello. I'm Istele, and this is going to be my second try at this. Hopefully homework won't kill my plans. Last year I didn't even hit the 10k mark, so I've difinitely got to finish this year. I'm going with the same idea I started last year, but revised. Better, faster, with more laz0rs!
I'm doing this because I need deadlines to get anything done. This is a pretty shiny deadline. ^_^

Hi hi! I'm Katie, and I'm a first time NaNoer =] I missed out last year by about THREE days, and I was immensely disappointed. So I've had ideas stewing ALL year, just WAITING for November (Now, picking an idea is an entirely different matter...) Here's hoping that loads of homework don't come between me and my story (more like vice versa, I still need to pass). Anyways, I'm really excited for this to start, and now all I have to do is sit and wait, and get organized! To the NaNo Mobile!

Heyy, my name's Katrina. This is my very first year doing NaNo. I'm pretty excited, hehe. I usually write slash fiction, so I hope to get at least half of a slash novel done for NaNo. I'm going to try and do this, because usually I get an intro for a story, or the first chapter done, and my mind just blanks. This is my motivation to push myself as hard as I can to get this done =]

Hi, my name is Emily, and I am a NaNo Novelist. Well, hopefully. I signed up in 2005(!) but have yet to even attempt. But this year I've got a plan in mind, so here's hoping! I'm planning on writing a fantasy novel based on a dungeons and dragons character that I created but never got to play. Good luck everyone!

Hi, I'm Chris and this is my first attempt at NaNo. I'm verrrry excited. My problem with writing is committing time to it - with work etc it is far too easy to be busy or put it on the back burner. This will force me to sit down and do it.
My ideas have come together quite nicely so far and I'm feeling good! Hopefully that will last :)

Sup. My name is Stef, and tis is my second time in NaNoWriMo. Last year i reached the 50 000 word mark but int he process, i got caught up too far in the word count rather than the story, and it was so irreparable that i deleted it December first. XD. So that's my challenge for this year. To reach the word count AND actually write a story, rather than a 50 000 word ramble.
I'm also trying to keep up my honour roll status, which is something that slipped last November... hmmm... it's funny how NaNoWriMo can be distracting enough to make your English mark fall to a 57%

I am Tanya (in RL), or Tansy. Haven't won a Nano since I first tried in '04 but this is first yr giving it a "whats for".
I do Nano this year to make good and lasting writing friends and to further build the story I have started and hope that it wasn't a one time deal. I am Queen of Self-Doubt and just a lot silly - runs in the family. *lol*
I knit, I'm a cat nut and I am drawn to the weird things in life and am quite possibly the most understanding person around (or so I'm realizing this past week). I am getting my 1st tattooed *knocks on wood* and my hair chopped tomorrow (Wednesday) and am going to be clubbing husband if he gives me attitude this Saturday.

Hi, all, I'm Jim. This is the first NaNoWriMo that I'm taking part in, but I have a plan and I've got nothing else apart from work going on this moth. So victory shall be mine! I hope.

Hi folks, I'm Joanna. =) Known mostly everywhere as jnessap, so feel free to call me Nessa if you wish...
This is my third year NaNoing. :O I'm a senior in high school. I'm hoping to make it, even though I have a four day trip right in the middle of November... I'm also hoping my physics mark stays up. ^^;;
I'm not on these forums often, but feel free to PM me or something... ^^
Oh, I forgot. I'm plotless. :D;; All I know is that I've got a pair of vampires, and I have nothing to do with them. I might break them up for the fun of it. >D

Hi, my name is Anne...I'm a first-time NaNo Novelist and I've been feeling pretty discouraged, but now that I've seen some of your comments, I feel like I can be taken off Suicide Watch! Mostly plot-less and slow-going for the first week - hoping to rev things up, though. Question for you multi-timers: does it actually help to type drivel when things aren't flowing, or is it best to stare glumly at the screen and eat chocolate?

WOOHOO!
Man, I love NaNo!
Did it last year, won, edited the monstrosity, and had a contract on it by February. Don't think I'll be so lucky this year because my novel is complete drivel, absolute tripe, and mostly bollocks, but I don't care. I do it for the love, baby! Heehee. I'm not in Niagara Falls yet, but the hubby and I are closing on our house there next week, so as of mid NaNoWriMo, I'll officially be one of your merry clan. I have no idea how I'm going to get this novel done, since we're closing next week, then finishing the packing process, moving to N.F. from Washington DC, fixing up the house for exactly five days with my parents, then the hubby starts his new job on the 26th. I probably shouldn't have signed up this year, what with all the insanity, but to that I say bah! Why not set myself up for the wonkiest, craziest, most hectic month ever?!? It'll be great!
WHEEEE!
I know how I'll do it! I just won't sleep. Simple, easy, effective, and a timeless solution for the creative set. Anyway, as for me, I'm a formally trained and certified geek of Ontario wines, a writer, and an avid knitter. I live for hockey and I'm obsessed with the food network. I have a slick titanium wheelchair named Hamster and I'm quite sure that without my smartphone, I would perish tragically. I'm generally crabby and love kittens.
THE END
(Thank you for reading this...come say hi if you feel like it :)
