Working Title: Gherys, Reformed. Or Possibly Not.
Type of Mystery: fantasy
Years in Nano: 2006 and 2007 (that would be 2 years!)

Gherys, a gnomish light-fingers (thief) is manipulated by her old adventuring buddy (now the queen/princess of the city/state/realm) into taking over an orphanage in order to find out who killed the previous orphanage director. Of course, it's a human orphanage, so most of the kids are taller than she is. And she may not, actually, be reformed.

Still living in the woods and still operating on a 28.8 modem. Back for the fifth time with three winners and two of them being shopped around for an agent. Not sure what I'll be writing about this year, but it's guaranteed that someone will die. Who knows? It might be one of you!!!

Despite Chris Baty's book about not needing a plot, I still find that most of the winners who have something of use at the end of NANO, whether or not they've reached 50,000 words, did have, at least, a brief sketch, outline, paragraph, page of what their story was going to be about and some idea of the main characters.

Whatever you do, have fun, and enjoy. This ain't something in life to stress over. It's something to have fun with. See you along the way, and I'm shooting for the 50K mark by November 26. That's 1923 words per day.
