Let's see if we can fill the sound of one of our local coffee drinking establishments with the scribblings of pens and the tapping of keyboards.
If anyone's interested in a meetup or communal writing session, or just wants to make it known that there are kindred spirits that are writing away -- reply!

Cool, I take a break from the forums for a few days and return to find Thunder Bay NaNo talk!
I'm ready to get writing and think it would be grand to kick it off with a meetup. Maybe we can organize some group writing sessions this year too. When and where is a good time for folks to meet for a pre-NaNo prep and pep session? May I suggest Sunday evening, the 28th of October? Perhaps we can meet in the back corner of Chapters?
This should be a blast (again!)

Wow, good the see Thunder Bay up here on the forums.
I grew up in Atikokan and spent many a day in The Lakehead!
Since there is no region specific to where I live now (close, but not too close to Toronto) I'm in this one.
Great to be writing NaNoWriMo with fellow Great White Norherners.

Ah, excellent, there are other Thunder Bay'ers ('ens? What exactly are we?) participating in NaNo. Makes the whole experience feel a bit more welcoming, I think, especially for first-timers, such as myself, haha.

Well, let's set a date, time and location then!
Sunday, October 28, 7:30pm
Madhouse (Bay and Algoma)
Have a pint and grab some NaNo-courage in the presence of other Wrimos!
I'll bring the NaNoWriMo table tent and pop it up when Bildzeitung shows up (because he raises my self confidence.)
Hope to see you there!
PS: Please feel free to RSVP or say (Crummy time! Lousy location! Lets do it here instead!)

I'm all for meeting on Sunday, October 28, 7:30pm :)
I've always wanted to go to the Madhouse, though at the same time Chapters would be way more comfortable for me since I practically live there, and I am super shy. But whatever is good for everyone, I suppose. Ooooh... I'm excited!!

Wow. I'm away for a week, and the crowd doubles!
So, tomorrow night, where are we meeting exactly? Madhouse or Chapters? Personally, I'm a fan of Chapters (more cozy in books).
Someone email me at dandelionsmom@yahoo.ca Just put NaNoWriMo in the subject line.

We're going to meet at the Madhouse Sunday evening. But in the future (I hope to get some write-ins organized) I agree that a place like Chapters would be much more conducive. Hope that you can still make it out for the pre-Nano session Sunday. :)

This is most excellent.
Swag, partners in crime, and a tasteful bar and grill.
What more could a writer ask for?
I shall be there.

Well, I'd say that last night was a success! Big thanks to bildzeitung, dandelionsmom, Symon Black and Lee (sorry, I forgot your Nano-name) for braving the unknown and sitting down for a while to offer mutual encouragement.
For those who weren't able to make it out, don't fret, all the swag has not been claimed! I'll bring some to the write-ins coming up in the next few weeks. b, d and I settled on Sunday afternoons at Chapters from 3pm-5pm as our weekly gathering. Look for us typing and scribbling away with coffee close at hand and most importantly, come join us!

----------Now... I've been planning on writing my story on my PC, but I don't have a laptop, so... I guess I'll have to write it all up on a notebook, then transfer? Ugh. Um.... oh well!! I still can't wait!!

I'll certainly be there myself, though as I'm also lacking a laptop, I may be in the same boat. Somehow, I think a manual typewriter may be a biiiiit too loud!

So it is Sunday at Chapters?
Sounds good. How many are attending so far?

I just found out about this too. I started my "book" or whatever but obviously missed the first meeting of the minds. So Chapters on Sunday afternoon. Can someone remind me where Chapters is please? I just moved here to attend Lakehead and am still trying to find my way around town.
Googled it up and found it.

Hi All,
I just discovered NaNoWriMo this afternoon, and I'm going to give it a shot. What have I got to lose, right?
I probably won't make the write-in today, but I hope to attend next week. Unfortunately, my Yorkie's obedience classes are at 3:00 on Sundays, but they're at PetSmart, so I might be able to make it for the second hour of the write-ins, beginning next week.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. Are there any veterans in the group? I would love to hear how this process has worked for you in the past. I'm more than a little nervous. (And that seems ridiculous to me. . .)
Hope to see you soon!
Eva

Aw Mitheir. Don't be scared of us. Just walk up bold as brass next time and push me out of my seat and get your butt sat down! You're a part of this too. I had to leave a little early as my neck was giving me a pain in the neck. Hopefully next time I'm there will be better. Oh, and get this. All that typing I did there? Well ... for some reason it never saved it so I lost somewhere around 800 words today. Bah humbug! Guess it wasn't supposed to make it into the novella. Otherwise the good Lord would have made me notice that it wasn't saved eh?
Anyway, it was wonderful meeting all of you. Hope ya'll do well this week on your writing and hope to see you in two weeks time.

Fantastic seeing all of you (ever so briefly) this afternoon at Chapters. I hope those of you who remembered to save your work got a lot of words down today. I ended up trying to sleep off my migraine for a few hours, but emerged not too long ago to type up another 1000 words tonight.
Mithier, I hope you'll decide to sit down with the rest of us crazies next week. I hope to be able to join you all to get boost the old word count in the company of such dedicated writers. (Well, even if you're not dedicated, you were there and I wasn't.)
Which reminds me, if there was any left over swag, I hope someone took it with them and can bring it next Sunday for those who didn't get any. I've got a last batch here, that I'll bring next week. After that, it'll only be the joy of completing your novel that'll keep you coming out! :) Naw, it's always been about being with the other crazy WriMos, hasn't it.
Well, keep those fingers flying. I'll do the best I can to keep up!
PS: TBayTeacher, without first reading your post, I added a new character to my novel tonight named Eva. :o

Aww... I didn't get to make it out because it was my sisters birthday get together thing with the family on Sunday. Hopefully next Sunday I will make it, and not be too shy to come around and sit with you guys! I'm still trying to figure out how I'll write my story while I'm there... I suppose I could write in a notebook and then... oh I don't know... maybe I can borrow my mum's laptop! That'd be great. I'll figure out something. :)

i wrote on a pad at Chapters although i live by my computer... i wasnt working on the writing itself, i was posing questions of my writing, and i ended writing a section for the book that will go in later... the real reason to come is the company and support, just come and be with us
