Hello, fellow Vancouver-and-area Wrimos!

A group of us from the East Vancouver/Camas/Washougal area will be getting together this Saturday, October 13th, at a local Starbucks. The Starbucks we prefer is on the corner of 162nd Ave. and 18th street in the McMenamin's plaza. We'll be meeting around 9:30 in the morning and there for a couple hours. I will be wearing this year's Nano shirt, at least, and I'm sure a variety of us will have pens and notebooks and/or laptops. You are all welcome to join us!

This isn't a write-in or anything, but a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, to talk about what we might be writing for November, and just a general gab fest.

Hope to see you there!

Hey, looking forward to getting into the spirit of Nano! Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow. But I hope to catch up with you all before/during the mayhem.

Hiya, all!

We're planning on another Starbucks Saturday this week, same Nano-place (Starbucks on 164th and 18th), a slightly earlier Nano-time (9:00 am). Hope to see you there to talk plots and possiblitites!

Or at Panera Bread at 5:30 on Saturday afternoon on 164th.

Feel free to share the locations of where you're going to be on the half chance that someone else will join you. It's always fun to have another NaNoWriMo writer join in.

Good luck Wrimos!

A few of us are going to get together late Sunday afternoons/early evenings at 3:30 p.m. until 5, 6 or whenever p.m. at the Starbucks on 18th Street & 162nd Avenue in Northeast Vancouver beginning October 21st. On previous scouting trips, this location looked nearly empty at this time of day -- perfect for good, undisturbed writing time!

Come meet some of your fellow NaNo participants!

CSCole and I will be getting together at our usual Starbucks (162nd and 18th in E. Vancouver) around 3:30 today (Sunday, Nov 4) if anyone would like to join us!

Hope your novels are going well. And don't forget to set your clocks back today!

Cheers,
Ris

While the Starbucks was a bit more noisy than it had been for a Sunday in the past few weeks, it was still good to get together and write our NaNo novels. Ris, PMaximus and I welcomed a couple of other writers and I think it was a productive time for all. Hope to see you again Friday evening at the Washougal Library or again next Sunday at Starbucks!

(This is for the woman who asked about cigarette lighters in cars: I was totally off on the first cigarette lighters in cars. Cars in the 1940 definitely would have had them. The first lighters were actually called cigar lighers because more cigars were smoked back then than cigarettes. They first started to appear as standard equipment in automobiles 1928 though were added here and there in some cars as early as 1925 or '26. In 1928 the Connecticut Automotive Specialty Company (CASCO) in Bridgeport patented the first automotive cigar lighter with a cord and reel so drivers and passengers could light and go. Unfortunately, many of these kinds of lighters led to car fires. The modern "automatic" automotive V-Coil cigarette lighter like most people are familiar with today was developed in 1956. Hope you read this and it's of some help!)

Any WriMos living in the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek area? 'Cause I was thinking about hanging out at the Starbucks by the Fred Meyers that's near the Three Creeks Community Library this afternoon (Sat Nov 10th) from about 3-5 ish....? Anyone who wants to come keep me company and keep me from feeling like an idiot can is definately welcome!

If you do come, look for the orange fox-eared hat and a Toshiba laptop.
