Hi,

Last year we held Write-Ins for the first time and they were so successful that we've decided to double the number of Write-Ins this year. This is what we're planning:

1. Every Monday and Friday , a lunchtime Write-In between 12 and 2pm.

2. Every Tuesday and Thursday, an evening Write-In starting at 6pm and going on until at least 8pm.

3. On Saturday 3rd and 17th Nov, a lunchtime Write-In between 11am and at least 2pm.

4. On Sunday 11th and 25th Nov, an evening Write-In starting at 6pm and going on until at least 8pm.

Write-Ins are excellent opportunities to get your word count done for the day. If people want we will hold Word Wars in order to help you get your word count as high as possible. You'll be amazed how easy it is to get your words done when you're surrounded by others all writing their hearts out too! :-)

So, the input we require from you is: Venues.

We're planning on holding at least a couple of the meets a week at CB2, as it worked so well last year. However, we're aware that it may not be very convenient for everyone, so if you know of a good place which is better for you, where they won't mind us tapping away at our computers for hours at a time, and will give us access to some power sockets, please let me know and we'll see what can be arranged.

Also, if CB2 will be fine for you and you'd like to come along, please let me know that too. We obviously want to arrange these things so that they're best for the highest number of people.

Thanks a lot,

Lottie

Hi Lottie!

CB2 is fine by me (obviously!) and I won't be hogging a power outlet thanks to my Alphasmart :-)

I'll aim to make the Saturday meets, the occasional Thursday one (I can fit in an hour before going to my other writing meeting), and weekday lunchtimes during the last week...

CB2 is good for me, though I won't be able to get there until 6:30 most working days. I'll aim to be at one of Tuesday or Thursday each week (or possibly both).

Hey, that sounds good. I should be able to make at least some of them. On the CB theme, now that it's smoke free, CB1 is good (free wifi I believe, although little choice of food). Also Clowns. Love those gnocchi. Plus there I'll be able to get some Spanish advice, but that's a purely selfish reason.

I think I'm most likely to make the Sunday ones, and maybe one or two of the Monday or Friday lunchtimes if I start flagging. I'm easy about venue - I live in Chesterton so Clowns is probably easiest for me, though I will need power as my ancient laptop only survives for about five minutes on its own battery!

If I do manage to make it this year, I will come on the Saturdays and possibly the Fridays if I can get a buggy pusher for an hour or so. CB2 was good last time and would be good for me again but I'll go with the majority. I won't need a plug. My paper notebooks last a surprisingly long time when they are not plugged in :D

I'm most likely to be there at lunchtime. Anywhere on the south to east side of the centre is fine by me, so CB2 is good. Or Gros Frank, which was another place we used last year (very convenient for me, probably not so much for other folks...).

I have a bunch of friends who work just near there, and they call it Le Slow Franck because of the service ;-)

Hola,

Ok, I sort of figured out what it said, but I had to run it through Babelfish to be sure. So I think we've established the boundaries of my Spanish 8)

Plus speaking and understanding are two different beasts...

Any CB2 or Le Slow Franck lunchtime meet works for me. I'll be writing longhand notes to type up later as I'm laptopless (gee that sounds rude...!) so no power outlets needed :-)

Would love to try and come to one these, would probably be a weekend one though as weekdays will be difficult to get too. Would be lovely to meet up with some like minded people!

I'm afraid I won't be able to make any of them, aside from the two Sunday dates. I'm working Monday-Friday, with alternative saturdays, and I'm working on both the 3rd and the 17th. =( Bad luck, unfortunately.

But! I'll do my best to be there on one of the Sundays, at the very least. And should I get a day off, I'll be at another one. =)

I'm sorry to hear that. Is there no chance of you making it to an evening Write-In? There's going to be two a week.

If not, I'll be arranging virtual Write-Ins via the chat room (must sit down and work out when they're going to be) so you can always 'turn up' to one of them! :-)

Hm...well, I finish work at 6pm, and it would take 20 mins on the train, plus another 20 minutes to get across Cambridge (though it depends where it is), plus the time taken to get to the station at my end. So the earliest I'd be there is 7pm... =/

I'm sure there'll still be some of us around! Tonight's is at Borders in the middle of town rather than at CB2.

Uggggh
I am going to come to them all. Oh yes, just as I made Sicko. I'll try for them all though. and I will make tonight's, if only to prosecute my burgeoning love affair with the PBs. Can we have some PB gatefolds for the site please?

Hope Andrew got back OK

howdy y'all -

If in doubt about when/where any of the write-ins are being held, just check the regional calendar at the bottom of the main Cambridge page - most of the events should be on there now, with the rest following in the near future. Feel free to give a holler if there are any questions/problems/whatever!

Rock-a-bye Sniglet,
Head full of snot
When her head's full,
Her writing's less hot

Of course she's great,
even though all blocked up;
But she's much better
If still ALIVE

zzzzzzzz (hint)
