Heya Santa Fe.
So looking over the other thread I see that most of us are available in the evenings, with the most problematic being tuesday evenings.
So here's what I'm thinking...
Kickoff party: Right now (lacking any other input) I'm leaning toward the evening of Friday the 26th at Java Joes from 5:30-7. But that's open for discussion until about monday. I'd like to have KO party plans finalized by then. So if you have a burning desire for a different time or place please suggest it. We'll go with whatever works for the most people.
Halloween prep session: does anybody want one? Last minute outline frenzy? If nobody's interested that's fine, but if you are definitely leave a comment so that we can get it organized.
Write-Ins, weekly get togethers: Wednesday evenings at Java Joes (In the rodeo plaza shopping center) From 5-7 so that people can drop in according to their schedule.
TGIO Party: To be determined.
So let me know what you think. I definitely need input on the kickoff party if that's a problem, and the write ins I'd like to see as many people as possible so let me know if there are problems.
See you all soon!

Hi there, I've been thinking about NaNo since September, but for some reason I didn't log in for this year until tonight. I would LOVE to join in write-ins and a kick-off, as my writing group thinks NaNo is a bit of a waste of time, and the few friends that I got excited about NaNo last year lost interest after about er, 10 words. I didn't pass 50,000 myself because the whole point is to have support and well, there wasn't any. So, long story short, I want to meet you all at Java Joe's. (Even though they switched to that cold brewed "Toddy" coffee as opposed to their iced coffee... grrr.)
I cannot make the Friday, 26, meet and greet as I work a 15 hour shift on Thursdays and a 19 hour shift on Fridays. Evening and on. If anyone would be willing to switch to the 23rd, 24th, 27th or 28th that would rock, but I understand that I'm coming in late and that's likely to be impossible. Halloween get-together? Not so much. Not that I have plans, but I bet everyone else does. And Wednesday nights? I can come the 2nd and 4th (and 5th) Wednesdays of the month, my writing group meets the other nights.
By the way, my writing group is looking for people who might want to join. We accept everything but poetry, have a supportive and close community, and really are serious (but encouraging) about our critiques. Interested?
Thank you Jen (is it Jen?) for being the ML, much appreciated.

Well, I only got one response on the KO party. So I'm hoping that means that friday works for everybody else. Sorry ferocious.starfishy, it was just that in another thread everybody seemed to indicate that evenings were best.
So I'll be at Java Joes at 5:30 (probably either right at it, or a couple minutes after.) on friday the 26th.
Look forward to seeing everybody!

BTW... while not mandatory, I would appreciate RSVP's for the kickoff so that I can make sure to have enough room and goodies.

Thanks for sending me a note. I've done NaNo for 3 years (never finished, but oh well) and never met with real live other people who are doing it. (A writing forum I belong to has a whole group participating, but they're mostly based in Australia)
Friday works for me, as far as I know. Count me in. If someone organized a Halloween thing, I'd come (if I've submitted my college application).
See y'all Friday!

Here's a quick question. Would it be alright if I brought a friend of writers to the Kick Off party? (since I'd feel bad ditching my friend who I planned on seeing on friday night) He's not a Nanowrimo participant but he's very supportive.
If it's a writer's only deal, I completely understand too. I'm really exicted. I've done nanowrimo two other years but I've never actually gotten together with real people before (only the Instant Message buddies).

I guess it's all right, lol
Just don't be surprised if we try and convince him to join. ;-)

As far as I know the halloween idea didn't fly. But if interested I could still meet.

Hi there Santa Fe WriMos!
I'm sorry I won't get to meet you on Friday, but have fun! (And of course, as an RSVP to you Jen, I am not coming.) I will meet you all on Wednesday , November 14th, and hopefully we'll all be at around 25,000 words. :) I also wanted to say, I am available on Monday's at almost any time during the day (before 4:00p) and if anyone happened to not fit into the "evenings are best" category, like me, we could meet up at say, the downtown Borders? It seems that more days to have a competitive writing atmosphere would be a good thing. If anyone's interested, let me know, and if you aren't then I'll just meet you all for sure on the 14th.
Thanks again!

Sorry I didn't RSVP sooner. It takes forever for me to get into the system to post a reply. I will be there at 5:30.
Thanks,

It was nice to meet everybody who showed up at the kickoff. I'm looking forward to meeting more during the write-ins and other get togethers during november.
There was some discussion of a get together on Halloween, and enough people expressed some sort of interest that I'll be at Java Joes from 5-7 (depending on attendance) on Halloween. So if you want to meet then go ahead and show up. It can be a casual last minute get together or a frantic planning session. Either way works for me.
Let me know if there are any other suggestions for get togethers or any activities that you're particularly interested in.

Bummer that I didn't look into this sooner. I would have loved to go to the kick off. As it is, I'm kinda doubting I'll make any of the events, but we'll see. Thanks for organizing and being so awesome!!!

Enough people expressed interest I figured that I'd just show up and welcome whoever else decided to come. I'm not actually collecting rsvp's for halloween or any write-ins. so I can't give you a number. but it seems like there'll be a couple of us on halloween anyway.

Sorry I missed it tonight but rehearsal ran over. Hope someone showed up. I probably won't be able to make Wednesday, either (rehearsal again), but I'll try for the next one...
Happy writing!

I just wanted to update this thread in case there are people watching it who may not have seen the announcement otherwise.
http://santafewrimos.org is now up and running. There are chat rooms, forums, an event calendar and more.
Users can also submit their own events, so if small groups decide to meet up on the other side of town you can post right away there.

Hey all.
I will most likely be late on Wed. 11/14. I'm having my car worked on that day and I'm not sure if I can break away from work early to pick it up, and I'll have to pick it up before the place closes so it can't wait until after the write in.
I'll be there as soon as possible, however.
also, if you haven't voted already, make sure to vote for when the TGIO party works best for you. Current options are Dec. 1st either day or night and dec. 2nd either day or night. Other options can be noted if those days don't work. I'll stop taking input on when to hold the party on Nov. 21st so that we can decide on location.
We'll decide on location for the TGIO once we know when it'll be held.

Hey everybody!
so we have our last regular writ-in on wednesday evening as usual. Hope everybody can show up and get some serious words written.
I also plan to hang around Java Joes on friday evening for anybody who needs a last minute push. Same time as the regular write-ins.
Don't forget to check out the TGIO thread to vote for a place to party, or vote on the santafewrimos.org web site. I'll tally the votes on wednesday and announce where we'll be partying.
Also RSVP so that I make the reservation for enough people.
Let's see those purple bars blossom!
