I'm writing a story about crime an drug lords that are antrhopomorphic personifications of domestic animals. Other than the domestic animals part, there is very little magic/supernatural/whathaveyou whatesoever in this story.
Is this 'mainstream fiction'? Don't tell me this is 'fantasy' because I am not returning to that subforum with that story. Fantasy it may technically be, but most of the fantasy forum just discusses what magic system they use.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
But yes, I need a place. I'm having something of an identity crisis. You'll help me find my place, right?

The catch is, I don't think there's any way to classify this outside of fantasy, as it certainly isn't mainstream. Literary fiction would be my bet, though, simply because 'mainstream' implies a more realistic take, and 'literary' has a bit more freedom for this sort of thing. I could be wrong, though.
Good luck, whatever you decide!
