For the third year in a row, there will be a weekend retreat to Fairbridge, from 2pm onwards, Friday 23rd November, to noon on Sunday 25th November. The exact cost will depend on how many people attend, but I'm anticipating it being between $70 and $100, including catering. The cottage sleeps 15, and has 5 bedrooms.

Yes, it is the weekend of the election, and the plan is to travel to Pinjarrra (10 minutes away) and place absentee votes on the Saturday morning.

The retreat is a chance to do nothing except write, and be surrounded by people who are writing too. You'll need to bring your laptop or PC, bedding, towels, clothing and snack food. Carpooling is available, so let me know if you need transport arranged. I'm pretty good at cooking around food allergies and preferences too.

If you've got general questions, feel free to post them here, or you can email me directly at chaosmanor(at)gmail(dot)com

It's the Tardis in the cottage, you know.

I'll go fix that up now.

That's not too far from Nedlands! I can provide transport if needed.

I probably won't be leaving until 5ish, however, owing to work.

Hi all

It's day 4 and I'm slowing down big time. It's becoming a struggle and I'm already about 1,000 words down on the count. It's a big ask and I start work tomorrow after holidays! Yikes... will see how I go... have to keep motivated, writing and not think too much.

Ciao
Robin

I will have to talk to the MOTH. I missed out last year as we went away . The same might apply again this year. Depends on kids and fitting in with their plans. I am counting the days until my youngest gets his licence and the oldest gets his back. :P THEN I will have a life. LOL

If I do go I will need a signal flare sent up, I am hopless at directions.

So I assume we'll be applying for postal votes and mailing them there?

The loose plan was to drive into Pinjarra and do absentee votes at the booth there. It's only ten minutes away, and I'm sure we'll need coffee-and-cake to fortify ourselves after voting.

I'd like to take this chance to thank Elaine SO MUCH for arranging and catering and so on. The food was absolutely delicious.

Now that I've had the chance to update my spreadsheet, I can say that I left on 30,224 words, and now have 44,968 words, so I'm finally back on track! \o/

Looking forward to going over the line sometime early next week!

I wrote 8 000 words on the retreat, and I had a wonderful time with some of my favourite people, in an environment where we were all completely focussed on writing.

We'll be doing it again next year!

I'll post the group photo when it's uploaded. Thanks to everyone who came along, you were all fabulous.

See my shiny purple winner's bar? THAT would not have happened if I didn't go on the retreat :-). So I'm very grateful that I got to spend the weekend just writing, and listening to the conversations of other writers writing, and even participating in a few of those conversations. What can I say...? I'm a hermit by nature.

But YAY, a win!

Wish I'd been able to get away and go along with you.
I signed up at the last minute and already had a whole bunch of other things lined up for the month. With family, it's hard to get away without pre-planning. I'll certainly try to get to some write-ins and maybe even the retreat, if it happens again next year.

sounds like you had a blast. As I said maybe next year. That is IF I am actually doing Nano. I could be trapsing NZ in a campervan so I will have to wait and see.

It's also good to a see a picky of other Nano nuts (as I am called).
