The old gray mare doesn't like to drive too far from home. Anyone near St. Louis Bread at 14560 Manchester Rd, Ballwin, MO 63011 or Starbucks corner intersection Big Bend and Dougherty Ferry ... or anywhere else in the area? Maybe we can have a cup of coffee and write a couple of hours ... perhaps Wednesdays from 1-3. Those who were in the memoirs class at Grand Glaize can keep meeting on Wed as we have been doing for the last seven weeks ... same time, different place. Let me know what you think and what you think would be the better place.

I am RIGHT down the street from Big Bend and Dougherty Ferry. I always wondered... do they have power cords there? My computer likes to die at unexpected times. (Darned laptop...)

I usually sleep between the hours of 9am and 6pm because I work graveyard shift, but that does vary- (I'm up today because I was driving most of the 30th and 31st- going to KC and back).

I live right at Big Bend and 141 (Stonegate, if you know the area).

I know that Starbucks down at the shopping center on Dirty Fairy and Big Bend. I've never been there, but if folks are going to heavily caffienate, write like crazy people between spastic bouts of conversation, I'm in.

Name's Eric. I've done my intro, but pleastameecha just the same.

Holler with a meet 'em up time and day if you've got one. My email is xtabber@gmail.com.

Regards,

X

PS I did 1500 words before I left for work. I'll do 1500 more at lunch. I'm lovin' it (apologies to McDonalds).

I did "Script Frenzy" this summer (life got the better of me and I had to quit just before the 1/2 way mark) and the write-ins for that were really small. There was three of us, one of whom was there as my cheerleader. I can tell you from experience that there's a vast difference in the fun, the energy, the chat ... everything ... when you have more people. I honestly believe that you'll get a lot more out of Nano (not just the social side of it) by hooking onto the official (Clayton) write-ins and TGIO party than you will from going it alone. It looks like there's enough people that if cars are a problem you could car-pool down to the BreadCo on Central. I hope to see you there on Sunday!

Nice to meet all of you from my area. I can tell you are young ... working and writing and driving about at night!!!!. It's a major achievement for me when I can get a bath and I give mysel a gold star when I can get out of bed in the morning. My diabetic advisor told me to eat right and I told her I didn't have the energy to cook. She said to "consider it as exercise." I told her I was already considering breathing as an exercise.

I heard from my son that his friend who used to work at that Starbucks said they do have wireless connection. I will look into it.

As for time, I had been meeting at the Grand Glaize library with an over 50 group writing memoirs and I thought we could just keep 1-3 on Wednesday afternoon as a reg meeting and go on over to Starbucks. Seems like you guys work so perhaps we could work out a schedule. Meanwhile, I will try to get over this Wednesday and check it out to make sure they have a wireless connection. I know they have one at St. Louis Bread over in Winchester Plaza as I have seen people there at various times.

I did better today than I have done in the two years I semi-participated. I think my memoirs class got me started. Especially when I realized I could fictionalize my memoirs and perhaps later fit them together into a YA novel.

Have you read Rick Bragg's books, "It's al over but the shoutin" and "Ava's Mam." , the story of his Mom and Dad. I am probably from the same era as his parents . Going back and recalling some of the things from childhood and fictionalizing was fun today. I typed from 8:30 AM; broke for lunch and then came back to post everything.

Looks like they don't have a word counter like last year? Anyway, I am proud of my word count today but I am really, really tired. I will probably fall asleep trying to watch my tv shows tonight.

I'll see what I can do about making it to the Sunday meeting , at least once to meet everyone... do they do this every Sunday ?... I would still like to go closer to home ... like Starbucks or St. Louis Bread here. McDonalds doesn't have wireless does it? If I remember correctly, the Grand Glaize library has wireless. I'll try to check that out too. Anyone in need of a relatively quiet place to write might just like to go there.

I got my t-shirt for 2007 yesterday! Now I have the "I'm a lover not a write" and the 2007. It might keep me hyped if I wear one or t'other every day..

Can I put this post in my word count. ha!

Nannette, you are really close to Sunset Hills when you're talking Big Bend and Dougherty Ferry. In Sunset Hills we write at the Borders, PLENTY of power (I bring a power strip) and we had 8 people last night at our write-in when all was said and done. We start at 3:30 and go until 8 or later on Wednesdays. They also have wireless, but it's tmobile and expensive.

Faith Lutheran is right across the street from me. I'm off Hanna Rd. We should write there. LOL! I was thinking the Starbucks on Big Bend and Dougherty Ferry but I haven't had a chance to get down and check it out How it's going for your writing now?

I hope I can make it just to meet everyone before this NaNo is over. I know where it is. I used to live in LeMay and pass by there a lot. I have never takne my laptop and written anywhere except in a motel or one of my kid's places so I was wondering about my battery running low. So we can bring a power strip and have enough for ourselves and others. thanks for letting me know that. I will try my best to get over. It isn't that far from us in Ballwin/
Manchester area.
