my mom is still living with me, out of adversity and annoyance and a chance to make her leave me alone.......a really long crappy novel was born!

third attempt, first win!

advice: this year I wrote seemingly at random, each chapter has it's own file, that way I can write on each "event" as I am in the mood, and it really seemed to speed things up, I was writing 5-10K on some days.

so, if you get blocked......start at another part of the story.

also, this is going to either be really easy or a pain in the left foot to edit........haven't decided.

OMG!!!I am so happy for you! This gives me hope to work on mine, which I am slightly behind on.

Cool idea with doing separate chapter documents, I'll have to try that out next year.

Woo!

I'm so happy for you. Now you just have to try to wrap up that novel and wait for the word-count validator to go live.

Oh my god! I can't believe it. And she home schools her kids too. Geesh. I gotta get busy.

Hell, girl, you could write another one. You got time. :o)

neither of them are even half way done with the novels I am making them write this month.

I figured writing a novel......hmm....

spelling
creative writing
grammar
time management
handwriting
math (they have to count their words?)

yeah, writing a novel is totally educational haha

the 4 year old is writing about what happens after the story of the three pigs (since they all live in the same house now... conflict!) she is currently at 350 words with a goal of 1000

the 6 year old is writing "Pirate Ballerinas from the planet Mars" she is at 10,540 with a goal of 20K

I'd actually be interested in reading about the Pirate Ballerinas. That sounds like a great time!

Anyways- again, congratulations on all your success!

Pirate Ballerinas hrm? Cool! My novel is College student Ninjas proving that Casinos in Oklahoma are owned and run by Space Aliens ;) There's a random Viking, but I didn't manage to work any Pirates into my first draft. Well, that's not true. There were costume party ones. But that's not enough. ;) And Ninjas/Pirates, such a natural thing you'd think! *grins*

My brain exploded in the last two days and my story took a strange unexpected twist as one of my characters announced that she was also a writer and insisted on writing a bunch of stuff that was entirely different but 'she' was writing it and her boyfriend (a ninja) made some commentary on it. *chuckles* It will probably get massively CUT in December! But it was amusing while it was being written.

No kidding and congratulations to you for success with your children nanoing. I wish I could say the same for my daughter. She is currently only about a tenth of the way to her goal of 5,000 and she's 8. She has succeeded in getting a few classmates and teachers interested in nanowrimo and some actually writing this year though.

I'm hoping I can do a little catching up over the weekend and holiday...
