So, we're at the halfway point, and I, because of life, the universe and everything, am only at slightly under 10 percent. Anyone have any pointers or some terribly inspirational story of how they've come back from this point in a past NaNoWriMo? I don't know if I'll manage to catch up regardless, at this point, though I am going to try, but it might make me feel better.

On the plus side, I am definitely going to try to at least make it to the write in this weekend and maybe the social, though I apologize in advance if I harass people with questions. I convinced my Writing for the Media prof to let me do my project story as a feature on NaNoWriMo, partially a personal narrative on my participation, but I also need to interview people, just to give fair warning. It'll mostly be 'Why do you do it?' kind of questions.

I like to talk about myself a lot, so I'm willing to be interviewed. :)

As for catching up, don't stress too much about it. What I do is write in 30min blocks, until I've exceeded my daily goal. This usually nets me a daily wc of 2000 rather than 1667, because when I stop and I'm 200 or so under, I don't say "Oh, let me finish this last few hundred words" I say "oh I'll just do one more block."

If you can get about 3000+ a day, then you will have no problems finishing on time!

You can totally do it!!
My first nano, I was at ~25k going into the last weekend. I locked myself in my room on a laptop that was soo horrid all I could do on it was write. (seriously, it had 25K of RAM, and I didn't emerge until I was done (except for quick food and bathroombreaks) and I made it.
It's VERY possible still. (I may need to do the same this year too!)

Or you could go the opposite way. You could say that hmm -- i don't have time to do 3000 words a day but i can still make it to 25K or something like that -- have a modified goal. Depends on your schedule, since i know you are busy. But yeah. I

I quit my first story recently because it was going nowhere and I was taking way too much time writing it out. So I started a new one, but Jamie suggested I find a way to incorporate my initial failure into this one. I just figured out how to do it!
The guy in my new story is going crazy for lack of sleep. He'll attempt a novel!
And so, I am happy for my words that didn't go to waste!
Yay!
I'm still SUPER behind.

I have thought about quitting my story, placing it on the back burner and starting anew. I think I have talked myself out of it. I am "interviewing" my characters for better insight in who they really are. I will only take a day or so after work to complete this (starting tonight for about an hour.)

I sem to struggle on this one with voice as well.

So much to do, so little time left. ONWARD!
