Hey, everyone who's already crossed over or is about to....post your 50,000th word in this thread! With or without context, it's all good.

Last year, mine was Sheriff." -- that's right, a capital, period, and a close-quote. [part of the sentence where a green and white American car showed up on the commune, and printed on its side was "Mendocino County Sheriff."] Naturally, the story wasn't done at that point...that was sort of early in the all-hell-breaks-loose part. (which you can probably guess, if the sheriff was showing up.)

44K and counting, so my 50Kth probably won't be till Friday or Saturday--but let's hear it from you early winners!

herself*

*At least according to my program's count. The NaNo validator has a different count than my program (Scrivener) so I'm not quite sure what it thinks the 50,000th word is.

It's not actually referring to any of the primary characters. It was part of a story one of my characters was telling about the dangers of magic. I was afraid it was going to be a less interesting word like "a" so I'm happy it was at least more letters. :)

Edited to add: Not that I want to cast judgment on what anyone else's 50,000th word or anything. It is, after all, just one word in many many others. I was just rooting for my own word to be more interesting. Lame, I know.

"that" as in "What does that mean?" Not as interesting as last year, which was "analyzing" but, hey, I'll take it.

From a line of dialogue:

“Yeah, that wouldn’ta been apparent”.

My 50,000th word is "aware."

As in, "Pretty aware for a five-year-old girl!"

Now I'm going to go upload my novel, then come back here and gaze lovingly at my pretty purple bar. Yay!!!

And yay to everyone else, too, whether you've crossed the 50K line yet or not!

fractured

At least, according to WP. This year, the NanoMonkeys think I wrote over 200 words more than the WP Monkeys do, so their opinion might vary.

"said"

“Of course, ma’am, but my mother would never let me live it down if I were not contrite for my language.”
“I understand,” Erica said.

He didn't know how powerful these animal spirit families were, or how widespread they were, but there was every reason to believe that they would go after his family if they couldn't have him.
