so since this thread is SO dead i figure why not do something about it
So, we represent the caribbean here, is there anything in your NaNovel that is a real life refrence to something compltely caribbean and by this i mean, something you pass by, used to pass by everyday,something that used to be on your street but was knocked down
a name, a beach?
personal i only have some localy said smilies and metaphors...

Sure! We live in a small house on a 3 acres lot, mostly 'mondi' (bushes). We share our place with a wild bore. He himself is not very sharing.
The stories that I tell, each start with something that I happen to do or to find around the house.

Not in this novel that I'm writing now, because it's set in Toronto in the 60s-70s, but I have written three mysteries all set on Bequia that describe the island and draw from my, and my friends, experiences. The problem I've found while submitting the first one to publishers though is that North American editors tell me it's too Caribbean to be of interest to their readers (therefore, they don't perceive enough of a market for it), and the Caribbean publishers say that I (as in me, the writier, an expat) am not Caribbean enough for their list because I wasn't born here. So I'm kind of caught between a rock and a hard place. Very frustrating! I haven't given up hope yet that I will eventually find an interested publisher, but I'm quickly running through the list of those who publish mysteries. It's a matter of convinceing them that, yes, there are people who would like to read about expats on a small Caribbean island, and my books will interest them. I worked in the business long enough to know that publishers often can't see the noses on their faces (or the markets that are out there waiting for particular books to be published) so much so that they become stuck in a particular rut of doing things.

In one of my novels, I do make reference to a tourist haunt in Jamaica and actually have part of the story staged there when the characters visit on a day out.
In terms of publishers, have you tried LMH Publishing?

I have a sequence taking place on Tobago, and since I lived there for three months, I put some of my friends and colleagues into my novel. Hope they will not mind (but I think they will never know anyhow). ;-)

My novel is a wrk in progress,its features Anansi,Doeun,Succubi and a whole lot of other west indian references, i think our stories act greatly on how we live as people...
