Friday's creeping up on us, when this whole crazy month of break-neck noveling will have to come to an end.

That means it'll be time for the Thank God It's Over Party!

Last year, we met to watch Stranger than Fiction (there isn't a more perfect NaNo movie than that), then trouped out to Golden Corral to sit, eat, and enjoy not having a big deadline looming over us. We celebrated victories, and planned to do better next year when we had fallen a little short. And we really congratulated Sphinx, who had a coming from behind victory like we'd never seen.

This year, we'll have the party on Saturday, December 1st. We'll meet at the Dickinson Theater in Penn Square Mall (map here). The time will be announced on Friday, when the showtimes for the week come out. It'll be an early showing, though.

From there, we'll bundle up and head over to IHOP just down the street (IHOP is more friendly to loiterers than mall security, plus, they won't go and close on us). There's a map here.

Join us to watch the movie, or come in to see us afterwards at IHOP.

I'll post definite times here on Friday, but if you'd like to here from me personally, you can either call me at 816-3133 or send me your number (either NaNoMail me, or you can email me at kamikazekricket at aol dot com).

Let me know if you're planning to come or not, and for how much of the day, here. Also, if you need to arrange a ride or can offer rides, shout out here.

I hope to see lots of you guys on Saturday.

I want to hit that IHOP like a frieght train, but it's usually so difficult to find a movie that doesn't make my head pound! So I'm throwing down that I'll definitely meet you all at the Hopper, but I'll only extend a tentative towards the movie.

Can we text message you our numbers?

Not sure I can make the TGIO party. In addition to writing a novel this month, (I am cautiously optimistic about reaching 50,000), I seem to have also gotten a life. So I may have other plans for Saturday. But if I have any ability to move on Thursday night, I will be at the Red Cup, and hope to see everyone there.

I have to be at work at five on Saturday :( I might be able to go see the movie with everyone, but I'll probably have to head out from there. If not, I will totally be with you guys in spirit. I'm HOPING I'll be able to pull off another random win this year, but at this point, it is not looking so hopeful :(

Saturday is my wedding anniversary, and I am 99% sure IHOP is not the romantic dinner hubby has planned (but who really knows lol)

so, I am not going to be there, sorry guys. :(

Sadly, Saturday is the day I have the least free time. I've got rehearsal all day, and then in the evening my husband's running game for the first time in months, and it's been rescheduled so many times that I definitely can't cancel. So I'll just be there in spirit as with all other gatherings in the past.

Another "no go" on the party Saturday, unfortunately. My dad died early Tuesday morning. It was quick, peaceful and from what we can tell, painless. The nurses at Deaconness were wonderful.

I'm going to Chicago this weekend for a memorial with family and friends.

I just want to tell you guys how much I appreciate your outpouring of support on this board. I didn't expect it and I really appreciate it.

I'm still plugging away, but doubt I'll make it. Still, I'm doing what many of you suggested and writing about Daddy, and it seems to help.

Fair warning: I'm also using some of you in my novel, as wonderful and supportive friends on an online writing board that my heroine belongs to.

Let's keep in touch! Maybe have a "Firefly" party at my house in January?

My condolences. My mother died last May, so I understand. You pack warm for Chicago - it's cold up there.

We have a Yahoo group we use most of the year - OKCNaNoWriters. A "Firefly" party sounds cool.

A quick question for everyone--

Would Sunday be a better day, or is the first weekend of December just toast for a lot of you folks?

Even if you can't make it to the TGIO, don't forget that we'll continue to have monthly meetings through the year. They're regularly announced on our off-season Yahoo! Groups list -- OKCNaNoWriters, and I usually manage to remember to post about it in this forum, too.

Smunkee--Congrats! That's pretty awesome.

Sphinx--You might pull it off this year, too. Just don't give up.

And Yvette, I'm so sorry to hear that. If you need someone to talk to, vent to, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to just hang out with for a little time to think about something else, I'm here for you.

And a Firefly party would be so totally awesome.

Yvette --

I'm so sorry to hear of your father's death, but it's also good that he's no longer suffering. I've heard nothing but good things about the care at Deaconess -- we had friend who died of cancer earlier this year who was there, too, and he was treated with love and dignity and compassion.

On to a completely different topic -- "Firefly", did someone mention "Firefly"? Count me in! :-D

Hugs, Clem

Sunday might be better for me, too, Sena. Right now it looks clear -- after about 1PM that is.

P.S. -- I'm still writing, hoping to COMPLETE this monster before I post it officially. Still no title...grrrr!

The first weekend is pretty much a no-go for me either way. I have to work all weekend - which completely sucks. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I've boiled it down to where if I write about 416 words an hour, I can make about 10,000 before the day is over! Here's to hoping I might be able to pull this off after all! All I need to do now is STOP GETTING DISTRACTED

Sunday is actually workable for me, since my Sunday afternoon plans fell through. and I'm up at the city on Sunday evenings anyway, so I could probably drop by.

Yvette,
So sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad it was peaceful none the less.

I can make Saturday, however, Sunday I have an OWFI board meeting at 2:00 in MWC so I could do dinner but probably not the movie.

I am planning on being there this evening at the red cup. My word count isn't great, but I still have high hopes like the little ant. :o)

My native american romance is going much better than the welsh story so I'm running with it. Gotta go, my heroine has just met up with a snake in the woods and I wouldn't want her to get distracted.

Ok, folks, here we go:

The OKC TGIO Party will be:

Sunday, December 2nd.

We will assemble at Penn Square Mall, outside of the theater, beginning at 1:00 pm.

Enchanted begins at 1:35 pm, so we'll actually head inside the theater to find seats, etc, at about 1:20.

The movie lasts 1 hour and 47 minutes, and once it's over, we'll head to IHOP. I figure we can sit out front waiting for folks who couldn't make it to the movie until about 3:50, then we'll head in to find tables. I'll try to let someone working there know who we are, so if you need to come in later than that, someone can hopefully point you towards us. If we aren't glaringly obvious.

Judging by previous gatherings, if you won't be able to make it until late, don't worry. We'll still be in IHOP. The biggest concern will just be that they won't close, so they might not kick us out. :)

I hope to see a lot of you guys there.

I'll see y'all at IHOP. I won't be able to go to the movie. I have a meeting at 2:00 that same day. Oh well, my daughter wants to see that movie anyway, so I would have had to see it twice if I went with y'all.

See you at IHOP.

I'm still about 8000 words behind. Not sure if I'm going to make it. I have my fingers crossed.

We'll have certificates and a few Merit Badges to award at the TGIO Party on Sunday after we get to iHOP.

For grins, consider bringing a snippet or two of your novel to share. Invite your favorite character to come along and introduce hirself to all of us.

We'll get silly as only writers can.

Those of you who can, please join us. Since iHOP never closes, we'll probably be there until late. We do have to go to work/school on Monday, so it won't be much later than - oh - 10:00 p.m. for an old fogey like me. Y'all whippersnappers might want to hang a bit longer, but I''m rolling home and bed by 10:00 if you're still going strong then.

Jasmine, is there another thread ... I do plan to keep in touch. You mentioned another web site ... can you let me know where everyone is "living" post-Nano?
