Last night at Denny's, we intrepid writers (all 5 of us!) were talking about how great it is to get together during November, and how we really should continue to meet at least once a month during the rest of the year.
I attempted to get something going last year, but didn't have much interest, so it kind of died as an idea. But if there are enough people interested now, I'm happy to facilitate a little monthly get-together. We can share writing, encourage each other, enjoy food and drink, and generally cause a ruckus. ;-)
If you'd be interested in such a thing, please reply to this thread and let me know! I'll plan our first one for sometime in January, after all the Christmas insanity is over.
Please include what quadrant of the city (or outlying community) you belong to, and what your primary mode of transportation is, as well as what time of day is best for you. Obviously this is likely to change during the year, but it won't be a "you have to come all the time or you're out" kind of group. We won't be about membership so much as we'll be about getting to know one another and encouraging each other in our writing endeavours! :-)

I'd definitely be interested in something like this.
Getting to know my fellow writers is something that I haven't really had a chance to do before this year's NaNoWriMo, and I'd hate for it to end here. Plus, being new to Calgary and all... friends are great :)
I'm smack dab in the middle of downtown, so yeah.... but I know the SW and SE better than the north. Mostly driving is the main way I get around as I don't know the public transit system very well yet. My schedule is fairly erratic right now so pretty much any time/day is as good as the next for me.

I think that is a great idea I've not been able to come to any of the write ins due to general crainess, but I am still hoping to get to one. And regardless, I htink having something year round would really be fun, not to mention helpful, cause I'm going to go way past Nov trying to finish this beast.
I'm in the SW in Shawnessy, but I drive and I (usually) have access to my roomie's van. I look after her kids during the day, so it would have to be after 5pm for me, or weekends.
Let's hear it for causing a ruckus. :D

I'm a ruckus.
My major mode of transportation is teleporting. That's not working too well right now though. Also, my ability to fly seems to be nullified, so I guess I drive. And, of course, I'm in Cochrane.

I'd be totally interested. I don't know where I'll be living in the new year, but luckily I have a vehicle for transport. Nights are generally good all around for me (the one plus of a 8-4 job!) I can be the mysterious stranger that no one has met... you'll know me when I swipe Cabby's hat.

I'd be interested... I'm a bit of a hermit aside from work, so it may take some effort on my part, but the Denny's in question (according to the email I got) is on the same street I work on... sooo.. that's kind of a plus for me. So convenient. I live in the NW, and I travel solely by transit.
As another plus, I love Denny's. So, I might be able to talk myself into coming out.

I can't go this tuesday, for I have another meeting. But you've mentioned that usually the meetings/gatherings are on the second tuesdays, and I can make it to those. I'm glad to say that I FINISHED my nano story! :D MIne you, it's currwntly only 22000 words, it's THE second story I've ever completed. The first story I had, got lost within a week or two of me writing it *sigh* Back then, didn't have scandisks or aything like that to store it on and even the printed copy, lost over 3/4 of it. But glad I finished this one. Now to go over it and fix some places I *know* need work on.
