Ok, so I'm sure by now that we've all developed some annoying habits that we will now have to break. So I'll share mine if you share yours, lol.

I gotta stop:

CTRL-S must stop hitting that key combination every minute or so. It doesn't work so well when web browsing.

ALT-T this was my custom hotkey combination to bring up a word counter. Once again, doesn't work so well when web browsing.

I've got a funny one.

Jeremy: So how's it going?
Me: It's going at about 2K an hour.

Jeff: How are you doing?
Me: I'm doing all right - it's a 3K day today!

Anytime I've been asked about my day, or how it's going, I've replied with my Word Count.

I gotta stop. xD

I was so worried about my word count, I got into the habit of separating - with a space because fluff-bunnies is one word but fluff- bunnies is two words!
XP
I really need to stop using a space there...=)

Anything I am typing on the internet, whether it is a post here, or if it's a post to my LiveJournal, anything really, I always Apple+S. It's such a bad habit! I almost did it just right now again.

We are also writing a narrative in English, a Romance (hero going on a quest type of Romance) and I am afraid that there is going to be a page limit. I won't do well with limits on narratives right now, not while I'm getting out of the NaNo groove.

One thing I won't stop: writing my novel. I won't stop until it's done! =)

For me, it's CTR+S and the looking down to the lower left hand/right hand corner of my screen.

Why:
I use Q10
Lower left: word count
Lower right: document name. If it has an asterisc (sp? the * thing) in front of it, it means that it's been changed since it was last saved.

And I just almost tried to save my post. How pathetic.

Definitely CTRL-S, but I also habitually press the actual 'save' icon. Which is quite annoying in web browsers, because every five minutes I find myself refreshing the page!

Also, during NaNo, every spare minute I had, I would either go on the computer and write, or think about what scene I was going to write the next time I was at my computer. Now that it's over, I have to remind myself that I can actually have a life again! lol

Also, my English class is writing narratives as well, and there is a two page limit! Double spaced! That's a little over 500 words! I wrote my rough draft...it was 1700 words, which I thought was pretty good considering...

I hope to stop biting my fingernails. I thought I got over that habit last year. It's kind of funny, since I never blamed nervousness for the habit, but I was scrambling to write more than I ever had yesterday, and now I have a fingernail bitten down to the quick. It all makes sense now.

(I guess I should be thankful that I only had one day in which I was actually anxious to make a certain count.)

Since I had autosave and no shortcut for word count, I haven't really acquired any technical habits. Most certainly my overall writing style has seemed to change to NaNo's wont -- more rambly than ever, and full of new words I've learned throughout the month. (For, as you know, taking vocabulary quizzes was one of my safest diversions.)

Then again, I don't think I want to stop the practice of using better words. The rambling, however-- now that's got to stop.

Maybe now I'll stop dreaming about my characters and my novel. One night I had a dream that my MC was using Faerie glamour to disguise himself as a tumbleweed. That was freaky.

At some point during Nano, I had to work with a broken computer and it crashed. ><
So then, I continued by writing the old fasion way - paper and pen.

It got late, and at some point I was so tired that I tried to CTRL-S my paper. XD

Annoying habits that I need to stop:

- eat so many writing snacks.
- go to bed way after midnight.
- skip school to write. (although this one isn't even that annoying. XD)

...Must stop pressing the save button, definitely...Though maybe I don't need to stop doing that at all! Heard so many stories about people who lost their writing. Well, that's not going to happen to me thanks to my save button pressing obsession.

I keep trying to do that, but because I have Firefox, I actually can save web pages, for some strange reason, so I have to wait for the really irritating save box to go away before I can do anything else.

And I had a dream last night that I was editing my NaNo... o.O

Haha mine's also about Ctrl+S, I just realised that I pressed it about 5 times when blogging and hence got 5 drafts of the same post T_T

Anyway about the word counter thing, it can just be dragged from the menu onto the bar at the top of the word document where you have all your font options and everything. Yeah so you just have to click once to find out your word count(:

Yup.

CTRL+ S is a biggy.
Same with replying to, "What's up?" with a word count, or similar NaNo related topic.
And I fear I'll end up having the word-count-on-a-school-essay problem soon.
Gotta love NaNoWriMo.

Same, sort of. When my friends ask me what's up (and I'm still writing my story, a bit) I tell them "I hit such-and-suchK" and either they're like "Really? Amazing!" (well, one of them) or they're like "Explain that to me again?"
Although I don't really want to stop telling them my WC... XD I used to always say "the sky" though.

This morning on the bus I didn't get a seat so I couldn't start writing the second I got on the bus. I wanted to shout, "Do you not understand you selfish people, I have a word count to make, give me a seat so I can write!" Then I realized that I didn't have a deadline to make tonight. So instead I glared at people reading books, thinking "Do you know what it takes to write one of those, move and I'll show you!"

The worst part is, this isn't the first time I felt that way, and I almost did that a couple of time during November.

All the rest are pretty much the same as everyone else out there (word counting and obsessive saving.)
