Several of us have discussed starting a continuing writing group, and I said I would post a thread.

I'm not sure if we will continue to use this forum for that, but this thread will at least give you a place to get started. I already have a site I'm paying for, and a forum set up.

If you are interested in future meet ups, setting up a group or groups who can bounce ideas, critique, essentially being a writing group, you can email me at punahougirl84ATgmailDOTcom - my nano mail goes to my yahoo address, but I think it will be easier to use gmail as it threads discussions. I will collect names and emails and we will go from there.

Udar is looking to do something similar in Southern Maryland. If you are interested in doing something in your area, please feel free to post a new thread. Or you may already have made friends and wish to NaNoMail them or email them. Go for it! Not that we all won't be taking a bit of a break right now, but there is always January!

Looking forward to editing, writing, submitting, and publishing with some other interested individuals! If you already gave me your contact information, you do not need to send email (though you can and then the address book will have you already!).

Also, please don't post your full email here - those dang spam bots are working overtime!

I would like to see who's interested in getting together for Write in style events, support, and tomfoolery on a regular basis in Southern Maryland. Here in Calvert we have more options than ever before for places to meet. Depending on the size of the group and the enthusiasm for continuing to write together, we could meet in a Starbucks, a restaurant, the library, etc. The kickoff write-in in Waldorf was a great crowd, and that was the first time (for me) that I saw how much I could write in a 15 minute "sprint."

The more we write, the better we get at it, and Write ins are a wonderful way to motivate ourselves.

So please send me a Nanomail or email to koshka1960 over there at yahoo if you'd be interested in a writing group for Southern Maryland.

Thanks,

Joe

Who's interested in writing groups to meet at the Prince Frederick library? If there are some people who would like to do some more write-in style events, please let me know.

Also, please state a preference for when you'd like to schedule. Tuesday nights work well for me, for instance, but what are the best times for your schedule?

Thanks,

Joe

Hecate--
I hope you've had a productive month and a half since I last saw you. I don't know if you're still working on your nano novel but I'm mired in the editing process and could use a little peer pressure to spur me on. If you're free Mon, Tues, or Wed, Jan 14-16, I'd like to get together to write. If you're interested, email me at artsmarts4kids AT yahoo.com.

If anyone else is interested and lives in Gaithersburg or surrounding, email me or respond to this post and we'll figure out when and where.

Can't wait!

Hi, Joany,

Sorry about the delay in replying.

No, there isn't anything set up at the library yet. I was there tonight (Books and Bubbly!), though, and the published event schedule for February seems to have openings on some Tuesdays, so I'll check tomorrow on getting a space on Tuesdays, at least every other week until we see if we can get participation to justify anything more frequent.

Thanks,

Joe

Just figured I'd check in on this thread to see if the Tuesday gatherings are going to happen or if they shifted days.

I know I was glancing through the No Plot, No Problem and noticed that Chris lists two different kinds of writing groups. Are we going to be a writing group or a critique group?

Just curious.

Howdy - I'm realizing how much I miss the peer pressure - Thursdays are still my best night, though I'm up for Fridays also...anyone interested in Columbia, Catonsville, Ellicott City or thereabouts? (I'm thinking more of a writing group, even if the "writing" is more editing and less free-flowing than in Nano), not a critting one. But where we get stuff DONE by dares and challenges (and caffeine).

Hey, gang, we have Meeting Room 3 at the Prince Frederick Library for Tuesday, Feb 12, 2008 from 5:45 till 7:00 p.m.

We can discuss what works best for schedules all around (ours and the library's meeting rooms'), but since Tuesday evenings work for me, and there was a room open, I reserved that for next week.

Thanks,

Joe

Our first meeting was a success! :)

We'll be meeting every other week to review fiction from one another and enjoy occasional bouts of madcap revelry. If you're looking to write fiction and converse about writing fiction with others who share your interest, join us.

So. MD Rocks!

Thanks,

Joe

MissWrite,

We were at the library tonight from 5:45 till 7:00 because that was as late as we could get a room, but we're moving to a 7:00 time at Panera's.

Thanks,

Joe

Oh good. That's what I thought had been posted (5:45-7:00) and I knew there was no way I could make that. But I can definately be at Panera's by 7:00. See next time if nothing comes up.

When will be the next time? :)

MissWrite,

Next time will be two weeks from yesterday. We're sticking with Tuesdays, at least for now, and we're still getting some things settled. It's not like a write-in, though. We're going to exchange some writings online ahead of time for comments and suggestions from one another at the meeting.

I'll send you some more details on that off the board.

Thanks,

Joe
