Hey all! I could use some help with party activities.

I did NaNoWriMo with 7 of my middle schoolers this year and I want to have a TGIO party for them. Unfortunately, we can't make it a pizza party (the school won't allow it), but we'll make do.

What I am trying to figure out are activities for us to do at the party. One basic idea I was thinking of was group mad libs, but that won't fill an hour. lol

Also, ideas for prizes? I've already printed up winner and participant certificates for them. But I'd like to award small prizes for various things like "most words written" and "most write-ins attended." Any other award ideas would be wonderful. I'm drawing a blank. o.o

Thanks!

Congratulations!!! Kyronae, and MIddleschoolers.

Hard cover Journals work excellent! Dollar stores have a whole array of cheap, but meaningful gifts, that they will love and enjoy! Maybe a small fuzzy pillow for the longest write-in to rest their brain on. book bags are great too! You might be able to get the homec teacher to embroider their names and year they did NaNO 2007, on them!

Good luck, and have many more fun times with writing.

Let them know that this writer cheers them on!

Oh, Oh, Oh, I just thought of something else!

For fun, mix up their writings, and let another student read the best sentence written circled by you of course, and see if the person can guess if it's their own writing! It's easier than having to read your own writing out loud, and having to worry if someone isn't going to like it, or maybe make fun of them.

And in rememberance of this day, you could take those excellent sentences from one each of the students, and make a page out of it to hang on the classroom wall. To make a new short short story out of their writing together that day! No one knows what kind of story it could make, And handing it on the wall, will keep it fresh in their minds, all year long! And then you could give it as a gift on the last day of school for the top student award. A one of a kind original keepsake!

Just a thought! Hope this helps get the great minds churning!
