Ready for the new year?

I found my NaNo plot a few weeks ago and I'm rarin' to go. Today's almost November-like weather really put me in the mood. I've started outlining and researching.

Speaking of this year, who wants to be the ML? I'm interested in doing it, unless our illustrious leaders of years past would like to keep their positions.
Let's See Those Final Word Counts!

Some of us (Congrats C.S. Cole and Ninjangel!) have already won our purple bars! Way to go everyone who is crossing the 50,000 finish line!

But congratulations to everyone who attempted Nanowrimo, whether you wrote 50,000 words or 500 words. Just the attempt is a huge effort, and for those who stuck it out the entire month, maybe pushing up from behind in the last few weeks, or even last few days, you are a hero. You didn't quit, even if those 50,000 words just weren't within reach this November.

And I say to those of you who still have a ways to go to The End, because we all know completing Nano isn't necessarily completing the story, I say KEEP WRITING! And post here to tell us when you've reached not only the finish line of Nano, but that glorious, magical place where The End dances in rainbow colors over a lollipop forest with gumdrop paths! I'm waiting for you, noshing on swedish fish from the kool-aid stream.

Or maybe I'm just craving sugar right now.

Anyway, WAY TO GO VANCOUVER!!

Write on, people! End those stories!

Hi all,
I'm hosting a write-in tonight (Monday, Nov. 26) at the above-mentioned Starbucks if anyone would like to join me. I've been out for the count for a full week due to client work and the holiday, but I'm ready for the final push, but I need other Nanowrimos to join me so I can't play on the free wifi!!

The Starbucks is at the corner of Columbia and 8th I believe. Congrats to PoetMage, CS Cole, and aroundtheworld for their stellar wordcounts!

Heya, fellow wrimos!

I won't be making it to the library write-in tonight, alas. My husband had to work today, and it was just too soon after the brief Thanksgiving holiday for that, so we're going to do the family thing tonight. But I'll be there next Thursday for the final push!

Eh... anyone miss me?

I guess I ought to confess--after a very stressful event in late October, I decided not to do NaNo this year. I was sitting with my laptop at midnight on the first, all ready to start, and the thought floating through my brain was, "Do I have to?" Suddenly I realized--No, I don't. So I shut the computer and watched some tv before going to bed, and I've proceeded throughout the month without writing a thing.

As it turned out, November has been... well, frantic. Hectic. Busy. Tense. Stress-filled. Pick any combination, and you'll have my month in a nutshell. Dropping NaNo was the best decision I've made in a long time. I just couldn't have handled the pace of it, and the pressure I put myself under to complete it.

I do hope the rest of y'all are doing good though. I miss the camaraderie of NaNo, and I look forward to joining back up next November.

So, for anyone who is counting, we should be at 30,000 by today. I'm not there yet, not even near, but am almost halfway there. Not halfway through the 50,000, but halfway through the 30,000.

Encouragement for Writer's Block

This is coming from a green-around-the-gills first timer, and I am feeling as if I bit off more than I can chew. The story I have is swimming around in the grey matter, but getting it down onto a computer screen is taking a lot of work. I confess I am sorely behind all of you. My measly 2,000+ word count pales in comparison to the seasoned veteran.

Rest assured, I could easily catch up with you all, but I might need some pushing. Any advice would be welcome.
I've got some major catching up to do tonight, so I'm heading to the Starbucks at Esther Short Park (8th and uh, Evergreen?? Downtown Vancouver). I'll be there at 6:30 p.m, hopefully in the west corner by the bathrooms. All are welcome to join. There are plug-ins available, and I promise, C.S. Cole, it's not so busy on weeknights!

By the way, congrats to all who've made it this far!
Ergh, need more peptalks

Seriously, what do you guys do when you're already a good chunk into the word count and you're losing steam, and it's only been a few days since it started and the peptalks are a long ways off?

I'm getting writer's block pretty frequently. Not even games of Sudoku is helping.
Getting Together

Hello, fellow Vancouver-and-area Wrimos!

A group of us from the East Vancouver/Camas/Washougal area will be getting together this Saturday, October 13th, at a local Starbucks. The Starbucks we prefer is on the corner of 162nd Ave. and 18th street in the McMenamin's plaza. We'll be meeting around 9:30 in the morning and there for a couple hours. I will be wearing this year's Nano shirt, at least, and I'm sure a variety of us will have pens and notebooks and/or laptops. You are all welcome to join us!

This isn't a write-in or anything, but a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, to talk about what we might be writing for November, and just a general gab fest.

Hope to see you there!
Battle Ground?

i've only started a week ago and WOW, i noticed how many writers there are dedicated to NaNoWriMo and they are EVERYWHERE. everywhere but here, that is.
i was just wondering if any WriMos reached Battle Ground, Amboy or Yacolt. it's pretty difficult to get to any of these kick of parties without any mode of transportation, and it will be pretty lonely if i'm the only one out here.
