What do you think? Is it worth it to pay the registration just for the prizes? If not it is quite possible to do it yourself without signing up.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I personally refuse to pay to enter any kind of competition. I don't care what the prizes are; odds are I won't win, and I will have wasted money.

Paying to be in a contest... ewwwwwwww. I would never do that, it's not worth it. Even if you do win, you have to pay?? What is that? It's like scammer publishers that say they'll read your work if you pay them. Ewwwww. If it were a free contest, maybe. What even is the contest? You didn't explain.

Hey fantasyfreak, I actually was considering doing this; I made a thread for it a few days ago.
For those who are wondering what the contest is, go here:
http://www.3daynovel.com/
It's been around long enough and is infamous enough that I know it is not a scam; the winner gets published and the second prize winner gets $500, then the runner-ups get "packages" of I don't know what but they have to do with getting published.
I know that chances of winning are slim, and that even good entries will be rejected in favor of the one single novel out of hundreds that are submitted. However, I do desire an adrenaline rush and something insane to look forward to, so I'll probably do the whole 50-buck shebang, which, yes, is quite a hefty sum (but still less than applying to college...?)

I talked to an organizer of the event earlier this year, and the novel isn't published as it stands just because it wins. They work with you to edit it so it is ready for publication. It also sounded like if you finish the greater part of the book and flesh out the ending, if it is stellar enough it is considered. Don't quite know how that would work though. If you think you can pull a novel off in three days, it might be a good idea.
