My home is in Vista - east of Oceanside. I love meditation and other spiritual exercises. And I love heart to heart communication.

I won NaNoWriMo last year and Script Frenzy this year. Both are an absolute blast - challenging and fulfilling. It's pure joy to write with a group of other writers.

Greg (gjmontll) has announced a write-in in Escondido. Hopefully he'll be doing lots of them.

Eva has been hosting Meetup groups in the Carmel Mountain Road area.

How to Shut Up the Internal Editor and Just Write?

Does anyone have suggestions on how to let go and just write, taking that risk that all you'll write is drivel?
I'm finding that subconciously the editor is causing me to write short sentences, short chapters, questioning every word before i put it on the page and then something magically happens, akin to, "Let's have some fun here, even if it's garbage."

can somebody read and rate the first chapter of my book

Part 1

Chapter 1

“Sally... Sally.” whispered Sally’s mom “It’s your birthday.” as she gently shook sally awake.
“What is it mom?” Sally droned still half asleep.
“It’s your birthday!” she exclaimed “We're going to the Magic Kingdom!”
“Okay I’m up!” Shouted Sally excitedly as she ran across the room to pick out her clothes from the closet
Sally had never been to the Magic Kingdom before which was just a few miles away from her house and she had only heard about it from some friends at school. She was really happy that her mom was taking her for her sixth birthday. Her mom told her that she had to hurry so because it opened at nine o’ clock. Sally changed really quickly then ran downstairs two steps at a time to go eat breakfast she was so excited that she poured two much cereal into her bowl and she ended up dumping a lot of it on the table. Then after she finished her cereal she ran upstairs to go brush her teeth but when she passed her room she glanced in and saw a small wrapped present at the foot of her bed. She grabbed the present sprinted to her moms room and asked her mom if she could open it and her mom said that she could as soon as she brushed her teeth.
Sally ran into the bathroom grabbed the tooth brush and the tooth paste and squeezed the tooth paste on to the tooth brush and brushed her teeth. She looked up at the mirror to check if her teeth were clean and her light blue eyes reflected back at her.
“Mom, mom, mom can I open my present now!!!” Sally shouted in excitement.
“Okay fine Sally.” replied her mom.
Sally tore the wrapping off of her present but made sure she didn’t tear the actual gift. She titled the wrappings and a small leather bound book fell out and fell open upon which Sally noticed that it was blank.
“Mom it’s blank. What am I supposed to do with it?” asked Sally.
“It’s a journal you right what’s happened in your day.” Sally’s mom replied.
“Oh can I write in it right now?” Sally asked her mom.
“Sure it’s yours, you can write in it whenever you want to.” She replied.
Sally took her journal to her room sat down out her desk with the journal and a pen in front of her and began writing

Journal entry # 1
July 14th, 1994

When I woke up this morning my mom told me that she’s taking me to the Magic Kingdom for my birthday. I have never been to the Magic Kingdom before but I heard that it is really cool. I heard that there are different lands there with different themed rides like Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Mickey’s Toontown Fair. I also heard that there is Main Street U.S.A which is full of shops and a few restraunts. Then a little bit later I saw a present on my bed that I got to open once I brushed my teeth and it was this journal. This journal has a black leather cover and a lot of blank pages for me to write in. I am going to write in this journal every day for the rest of my life. Well my Mom said that we have to go now so I’ll write back later.

“Sally let’s go!” Shouted Sally’s mom. “We have to hurry it opens at nine o’ clock and it’s already eight thirty.”
“Okay mom. Can I buy anything their.”
“Sure I’ll get you one gift that you want from their. Let’s get in the car now.”
“Okay.”
Sally put away her journal in the safest place she found possible, the top of her closet and then went downstairs two at a time again. Once she got down their she grabbed her jacket and ran out to the car where her mom was waiting for her.
