Lake Charles Would Like to say 'Hi"

As we near the end of the month and we're all filled with turkey, we here in Lake Charles felt we should drop in and say "hi" to everyone else in Louisiana. It's only our first year as an official region (we were elsewhere's last year) and we only have 34 members. But we take our writing seriously. Very seriously. So seriously in fact, that we ignore all word war challenges and let our region status speak for us.

I go to highschool and I just wanted to see if I could meet any other highschool NaNoWrimers from New Orleans. I did NaNoWriMo 2007 but I never met anyone so I never went to any WordWars or anything. Let me know if anyone else is interested or is just thinking about doing NaNoWriMo this year and is in highschool.

Someone had to start it, and I'm all for getting things done early!

My name's Rin "Kat" Mitroi, I'm a freshman at Tulane, and this will be my third year having a go at National Novel Writing Month. I originally hail from Oxford, Ohio, home of Miami University, where I spent late nights with very supoortive, fellow NaNoers in years past.

I'm an English Writing and Digital Media Production major, and I intend to write screenplays for a living. I tried Script Frenzy this past year, but April was just not a good month for writing... -_-'

I'm ridiculously excited for NaNo this year, and I look forward to meeting new writers.

Pep Talk from Jonathan Stroud

I thought his "honeymoon/phony way" was right on target. I've basically rewritten the first 75-100 pages over and over and over for, well, for a lot of years. What stage is everyone in? I'm still in the honeymoon after 5 days which makes me feel like a huge phony war stage is about to pounce on me.

And here's a question: where and when does everyone like to write? I write in the evenings after I've walked a mile or so with my dog. The walk started as a way to calm him down so he doesn't attack my writing hand (unsuccessful) but has developed into a really good way to clear my mind before I sit down to write. I'm curious what routines other people have.

Since everyone is trying to plan their novels right now, I figured I'd post a link to a wonderful writer's toolshed. This forum site contains guides, tips, trick and worksheets to help with every step of the writing process. The site is called www.scribefarm.com. Scroll down to find the CREATIVE TOOLSHED. Inside, you'll find one section for fiction and another for poetry. This area is viewable to anyone visiting the site. However, you can also create an account and become a member to view and post fiction, get critiques and offer constructive criticism to other authors.

Go check out the creative toolshed. There's a ton of stuff that can help with you fiction projects.
