I was out at Elizabeth Bishop's house for the Word in the Village celebration yesterday. Great lunch and Nova Scotia ham-and-baked-beans supper, plus a truly magnificent reading of her story "In the Village". It really reminded me that words need to be READ OUT LOUD...
Also, you gave me the idea for a great new phrase of comparison, for which I thank you: "painful as high heels at an Elton John concert..."
