So, who is ready and rarin' to go in the Prescott area?
I'm Julieann, and this will be my second Nano, and I'm hoping to win a second time! Time to start clearing out the freezer and make room for the cheesecake! Hey, it works a lot better as a writing carrot than an actual carrot does. ;)

I'm Poofiemus, and though I'm currently MLing for Flagstaff, my mom's a Prescottonian, so I may be popping in on a weekend visit or two. :) During my first NaNo two years ago, Prescott didn't even have a region, so I'm hoping I'll get a chance to meet some Prescott Wrimos this year.
As an additional writing carrot, I offer some creme brulée from Mountain Oasis up here. It's tasty, and they serve it with strawberries.

Hello,
I'm hsmailey. This will be my first REAL nanowrimo, though I've half-heartedly participated for the past 2. I've had a lot happen in my life this year so I have a lot to write about this time around! I just moved to the area, from Phoenix and am hoping to meet up with some fellow writers. I'll keep checking to see any updates on when and where.

I'm quillandink, your area ML. This will be my third NaNo and I am gearing up for this to be my first winning season. I'll be announcing meeting times soon and I encourage everyone here to share their favorite places they'd like to meet before we start as well as during the month of November.

Welcome to the area, I hope you like it! :)
I'm in the process of adding you to our private tracking site (oh darn, need to post about that again), and I went ahead and added you as a personal buddy. The page is located at: http://www.dreamerscovestudio.com/nano/
Right now I'm using a standard Nano tracking graphic, but hope to upgrade that to something a little more interesting come the middle of October.
What genre are you thinking of writing in this year?

Welcome, gigasails - NaNoWriMo will certainly break that writer's block because it forces you to ignore your inner editor. You can't listen to him (or her) and pump out the amount of words you need to everyday. Don't worry about how "nice" your words are - edits and rewrites are for another time - November is the time to dump the story out of your head and onto the page. Check for a new message about our weekly warmups and write-ins.

Welcome DustyChica! We'll have to see what we can do to help you along. :) I think having so many other people around you working on the same thing, and the accompanying horrahs, will help you a lot! Last year was my first year, and I had no idea how I was going to do it, but I MORE than did okay! (116000 + words). And I have chronic fatigue!
For me, the planning is what enabled me to do it. Which is why I'm already working on outlines so I know where I'm going as I write. Have you read Zette's free Ebook? Here is the thread where she offers it.
I recommend at least reading through it. Last year it really helped me. :)

Welcome to our regional group, Dusty Chica. Don't fret about the word count because they'll come when they come. It's more important to do as good as you can, regardless of the numbers. As for those 25,000 words - that's awesome! I hope you'll be able to come to some of our get togethers.

Heh. If it's any comfort, prior to my first year, the longest piece of fiction I'd written was only about 12K. And then I ended up winning with 58K (and, insanely, only half a novel).
Planning does help tons. If you know where your plot needs to go, writing becomes more like a crazy game of connect the dots. You don't have to write down an outline so long as you can remember your major plot points, but I definitely recommend at least writing down a cheat sheet with descriptions of your major characters and a list of minor character's names. Nothing kills a word war like realizing you can't remember whether you made your MC's uncle's eyes blue or brown, or suddenly remembering that communications expert chick had a name, but you can't remember for the life of you what it was.
Still, little precautions like that will not only help a ton, but will make winning totally doable. Go. Write. WIN! :D

I'm J. D. I have been at the business of novel writing since I was in the third grade. I have only ever finished one, and have the nasty habit of only ever hand writing my work, as I cannot seem to torture myself with hours at the type writer of computer. I have put off at least five projects in my life, it is my goal to start a new one and have it done in half the time allotted. My goal is to win the NaNoWriMo this year, and then tackle the infamous Three Day Novel Contest next year. I want to do both every year thereafter. This type of thing is in my blood.

Welcome aboard, J.D.! I hope you have lots of fun with the writing and accomplish your goal. :) Always Dreamin likes to write a lot by hand, too, but slowly we're getting her to type it out on the computer. Greatly helped by an AlphaSmart Neo. She's decided it's HERS! (she even named it Nemo, heh).
