Post here if you live in the Saint Joseph area. Maybe if there's enough of us, we can schedule a get-together. I'm told I bake a mean batch of cookies. ;)

For the moment, English, but I'm not sure how long it's going to last.

What's been going on with you?

Okay, come on, people. I know that there have GOT to be more St. Joe NaNoers out there than just Tobaeus and myself.

Hi there! I'd love to get together and have a write in. And since cookies have been mentioned... we could have a cookie exchange?

Also, I love Hazel's and Acoustic Cafe. Both great environments.

Hello, rainbow! Welcome to the Saint Jo thread. If we're going to have a write-in there, I'll have to work out transportation. Hazel's is a more kid friendly environment, right?

Salut, children! I'm back once more. I'm currently in St. Joseph (working at The Home Depot in flooring, even,) and scratching out small outlines of my novel in between work and helping my boyfriend build his house up near Maryville. November is going to be a very busy month for me, it's down toward crunch time for the house, as well as our various and sundry family get-togethers that month... (Deer season is a religious event in his family....)

Anyway. Get-togethers. Very yes.

Hazel's sounds good. All I'll have to do is work out transportation. Shouldn't be a problem, though. Do they allow outside food?

I'm not actually sure if they offer outside food or not. If needed, I may be able to help with transportation. I live on the North end near downtown.

Also, Borders is nice or we could do someplace out at the college, there are lots of options there.

If money allows, what would everyone think about a brainstorming session over a meal?

We are struggling, starving writers... we could do someplace cheap.

Olive Garden has all you can eat soup, salad, and breadsticks for lunch... 5.95 I think.
Panera is a very good atmosphere, good food, and inexpensive.

And of course, we have standbys like Perkins or Dennys. And a lot of the Mexican restaurants has weekly specials.

I'm thinking that even if we are from different genres we can bounce ideas off one another (what do you think of a character doing ______) and see what a general consensus is. Or we could do some forum type games to stimulate our creative juices flowing!

My kiddos are with Satan...er their father... the weekend of Nov 1st when Nano starts. What about that Saturday? It'd be a good day for a kickoff and if anyone's interested, I could open my home up for an afternoon get together and make some finger foods. Or we could meet at Hazel's or wherever!

Huh. I always thought my brother in law was Satan. Oh, well. I think that Saturday sounds great. For our first get together I suggest we meet in a public place like Hazel's. Then, once we've made sure no one in our group is a vampire, we can decide where to meet after that.

Yeah that sounds much better. It's harder to suck blood in a public place.

So, Hazel's? What time works?

I can do it if it's after 5:30 (that's when i get off work) and can arrange a ride. Or is Hazel's within walking distance of the college?

Uhm, I don't know if it's within walking distance, but I know that you could probably hitch a bus out there. We could maybe meet at 6:30 or 7 to give you plenty of time to get there?

Hey there, fellow St Joe NaNoers! How's the pre-NaNoing? I've got an idea. The rest is slow in coming this time round. Probably because it's been a helluva year so far.

"is Hazel's within walking distance of the college?"-- If you mean Hazel's Coffee Shop it's just down at Woodbine and Fredrick. Good exercise. :o)

Okay, my next question would be, "Is it safe? I know I'll have to cross Frederick for sure. Not that I have a real aversion to walking, cuz it is excellent exercise.

"Is it safe?"-- You know, thinking about it, probably not. The mall parking lot is all tore up and the 18-wheelers in & out at all hours and Woodbine doesn't have sidewalks and it would be after dark. Hmmm, that sucks, no, imo not safe.

6:30 or 7:00 would work for me. As far as a walk from the college, I agree with take the bus. Yeah you could walk it but it's going to be cold, dark, and on Frederick. Probably not the safest.

If interested, anyone want to meet someplace closer to the college? How late is Blum open?

If we do the college, I think it's only fair that I warn you about the parking gestapo, er, police. I don't know how late they operate, but in the past they have been pretty...how shall I say this...enthusiastic?

I can probably hitch a ride via cab or bus or family member out to Hazels. Just give me a time.

I'm so looking forward to this. :D

Sounds like 6:30 or 7 is the consensus. I still gotta work out the kinks on transportation and children, but I'm going to make it, one way or another.

I can't get ahold of a shirt yet. Gotta take care of some budgeting issues, first. But i will get one, mark my words.

For recognition purposes, should we wear tags with our usernames on them?
