I've always felt that the more people that participate, the more fun I have with NaNoWriMo. I'm asking anyone in the Lawrence area to help me, in any way they can think of, to publicize NaNo in the local area.

Some things I've already done:

  • Dropped off Young Writer Program info to both local high schools
  • Contacted the Lawrence Journal World
  • Contacted the Daily Kansan

I plan to also drop off flyers at the local coffee shops and bookstores, and to post some flyers around campus.

Any other suggestions, opportunities, help, etc. is very much appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to give me a few fliers, I can hang them up in my office and maybe one or two on bulletin boards around Strong Hall, if you haven't hit it already. Also, I can give a handful to my co-worker who is an advisor in the English department. Maybe she can hand them out to students who come in.

I could post a flyer at my work, but I guarantee no one else would be interested! I would, however, love to see if they'll let me put up a flyer at House of Cha, since I'm a regular there and they're used to me hanging around, working on my novels. Also, my wife doesn't participate, but she is a great supporter of NaNo, and she would probably love to post a flyer or two up at her office.

I know I am at emporia but I can get the word out for my friends who go to school in Lawrence. I'll try to get it out to them.

Word of mouth publicising counts too, right? :)

I keep telling and TELLING my bff that he has to do this with me, and all he can do is get on his elitist writing horse and tell me that to rush through something like this cheapens the entire art of writing.

Then I tell him I have already written a book ahead of him. He still has yet to produce anything longer than maybe 8000 words. He gets a little upset when I do that. It's getting to be where it's fun.

We all need to dog pile him and make him join the bandwagon. :3

If you donate money to NaNoWriMo, you receive a nice little halo above your name.
