Is there anyone else around or am I just really early?

Really wanted to get a good seat lol. I just wandered by to check out a post in Character and Plot Realism and bam! all gone! New year. So surprised, am like whoa it's not November yet is it? ...then again I am listening to Christmas music right now, so November would be be appropriate. Can't believe I have some songs in my head already. Far too early for that sort of madness.

And for NaNo - I have no plot like whatsoever or at the moment not much interest ni writing. Just kind of meh, you know? But it's tradition at this stage so here I am! How about you guys? Have you been here before and how did things go? Or is this your first year and how did you get sucked in? Any ideas about what you're writing yet?

Hi there!

I just came round to take a look at the new site and check out the Dublin region. I live in Paris now, but will be moving to Dublin next month for my studies --- just in time for NaNo! Looking forward to another month of crazy writing.
Cheers!

Denis

I hopped in to buy a T-shirt but hopped out again when I discovered that a $17 T-shirt would cost $41 when postage was added in. Maybe we could get a few people together to send for them and save on the postage cost?

You could send them to NY and I'll bring them back when I'm home for Christmas...?

That is an EXCELLENT idea, about everyone ordering together to save on shipping. I already put in my order because ML stuff is free, but paying for the postage was a kick in the pants.

Hmmm... an excellent duty perhaps to add to the ML workload?

(Why am I saying that??)

I got an email back from the Office of Letters and Light saying they were going to have a better postage system in mid-October: "The new store will offer international first class as well as priority which will be significantly cheaper if a bit slower," they said. But I still think it would be better to order together.

Maybe we could meet next Saturday or Sunday in town, and those wanting T-shirts could bring the cash, a print-out of their name, address, username and desired T-shirt and size, and a box of Lily O'Brien's chocolates for the kind, lovely (lick) Municipal Liaison?

*Waves to all*

Good to see people up and around. It's nice not to be the only one counting down to November.

This grabbed me last year. I went in to order a T-shirt and thought that the only postal option was the most expensive one - on advice I found a much less expensive option available.

Unfortunately I will be out of Dublin this weekend (in Galway - well, fortunate to be in Galway, but unfortunate not to be able to meet you all) but am certainly interested in placing an order.

Folks, I have posted about this elsewhere, but Dublin has no ML this year - at least so far. Can we manage on our own? Anyone know what problems we are likely to run into?

Really all an ML needs to do is organise meetups and distribute free stickers, keep an eye on the forums and send out a pep-talk or two. There's no reason that someone can't stand up for Dublin and do that unofficially...

BUT, signing up for the ML job does get you some free swag and a few Superpowers on the boards, plus access to the top-secret ML area here. You can make the job as easy or complicated as you like, really. If you do it this year, you'll have a free t-shirt next year to show for it.

All of last year's MLs starting getting e-mails from HQ in August, so unless our Dublin MLs have changed e-mail addresses in the past year, they've had plenty of reminders and requests to sign up again. I don't know what happened.

Maybe both of them just felt that they had done it for long enough, now and didn't want the hassle.

It would be great to have write-ins! And we need a ML to organize them. I wouldn't be a good choice since I don't know the city at all, having moved from France just a week ago; but if meet-ups are set up, you can count on my presence!

Actually, you don't need an ML to organise write-ins and meetings (although that is one of their primary functions).

Anyone can arrange a meeting. Just start a new topic and offer up places and times.
