As you may or may not be aware, NaNoWriMo runs entirely on donations given by a small percentage of its users. This year, the aim is to get 10% of WriMos to donate. So I'm looking for fundraising ideas.
Obviously one option is just for everyone in the region to make a donation. If everyone gave 10 bucks (which is about 5 pounds in real money) we'd raise several grand for the site there and then. We'd also all get shiny halos to show off in the forums. : )
Likewise, buying t-shirts and posters and the like from the online store will count.
Another thing we can do that won't be so visible but will still make a difference is to stop using Google for noveling research. Not that there's anything wrong with Google, but if you use the search engine at http://www.goodsearch.com/ instead you can raise money with every search. Just set the charity to 'The Office of Letters and Light'.
Or how about getting people to sponsor you for writing? If you get sponsored an amount per 500 words, you'll have extra reason to get writing. (And if you're not sure about getting sponsorship just for NaNo, you could always split the proceeds with another charity - Children in Need is an obvious one for November).
But these are all fairly boring ideas. If anyone has any more interesting thoughts (though lets keep them legal, eh?) then post them in here.

One extra note - if you do decide to get sponsored, you can always organise it through FirstGiving which makes collecting money much easier.
