Christy, for the write-ins scheduled at UF could you post parking suggestions and warnings? I haven't parked on campus in several years and I'm not sure what the rules are anymore. Thanks.

If it is the weekend or after 4.30pm, I believe, you can park pretty much anywhere that isn't 'reserved'. For Lib West, I'd suggest the Criser Hall parking lot, it's the closest (and if I'm not mistaken, the parking meters don't need to be paid on the weekends).
Cheers~

I may need to carpool to some of these events. If anyone lives on or around Archer Rd. and Tower Rd. and is willing to give me a ride, it would be much appreciated. I'm pretty sure I can make it to the first meeting on my own, but the rest, I'm not sure. Also, for weekday meetings, if anyone lives around 34th St. and Williston Rd, I work around that area and could catch a ride from there. Having no license makes driving quite tricky...

I hope I can get my mom to take me to some of these, or at least one or two.
-can't drive yet-
Some of them are kind of far, but the closer ones seem fun.

With enough notice (and providing I can make the actual event), I'm willing to give rides.

Syka has the right of it, most parking restrictions on campus are lifted at 4:30 (some lots are at 5:00 pm), and on Holidays and weekends. Reserved spots, handicap spots, brown decal spots and a few others (it'll say on the sign) never lift.
In addition to the lot at Criser Hall, the lot at the Chemistry building (off of University at around 17th Ave) is also very close to Library West. For the Veteran's Day write-in at the Geology building, I think the closest lot might be the ones by the Reitz Union (that building is pretty centrally located on campus, unfortunately for the parking situation - but it is a holiday, so most parking restrictions will be lifted).
I'm also going to start a carpool thread, so people can arrange rides for events, and I'll try to include parking suggestions for each event.

For the one in the geology building, there is a lot that is right behind the Student Rec Center, and I think there is another one just across the street kind of near the Infirmary. I'll check next week to see what all the restrictions are and get back to you guys. :)
I just realized the meet up this weekend is during the Homecoming game. I'm glad I'm not a football person. ;)
I'll be bringing a couple friends along with my most likely, I got a friend in to it and I think she got her boyfriend in. Yay!
Cheers~

Aw man, I'm really quite bummed about missing the Meet and Greet today. I was taking the ACT which took a bit longer than I expected. As soon as it finished, shortly after 1, I headed straight over to the library because I had to drop off some books anyway. Then when I was leaving the library parking lot I thought that I saw some people standing outside in NaNo tshirts, but by the time that I had convinced myself to turn around and drive back they were gone.
Oh well. I'll just have to try and be patient waiting around for the Nov. 1 write in I suppose! =)
Later.

I couldn't make it to the meet-and-greet either. Been a little under the weather lately.

It's 5 o'clock (so I suppose the meet and greet is about to start now...) but unfortunately I cannot make it today. I will try to be there next Saturday for the first write-in, but I cannot guarantee it. I hope I'm not the only teen novelist enthusiast there though, Aha.
Hope to see everyone next Saturday!

Hello Christy! my name is Paige, and I am interested in going to the Daylight Savings Write-In. I'm only 16 years old, however, and can only attend from 9-11 PM. I wanted to let you know because I was unable to go to the Meet-And-Greet, nor was I able to go to the write-in this morning. So I guess I'm posting this to make sure it's alright that I go to your house (since I'm one of the youngest in the Gainesville region, I suppose...)
I also wanted to ask if I should bring my laptop since it's a write-in (though I guess I can assume that's a yes...) and that unfortunately since it doesn't have a battery...if I could use one of your outlets to plug it in. Thanks!

Paige, it is absolutely okay for you to come to my house, and I look forward to meeting you. We do have outlets available, and wireless internet, in case you need to post your word count. We'll have hot chocolate and tea, and some soda and candy, but feel free to bring other refreshments / snacks to keep you going.
When you get here, come to the garage door, and knock (that's the garage door opener, not a door bell) - our front door is far from the road, and dark, and the sidewalk is cracked, so it's not the best path. I'll put a NaNo WriMo sign on the door so you know it's the right place :-)

I might be able to make it to part of the Final Push Write In. :) It looks like I should be back in Gainesville by 6, so if I can get snap up there after 6.30, I should be there by 7 for a few hours. Or I'll walk up with a friend or something. :)
Cheers~
