Woohoo!! The site came up early :) I checked in out of boredom... talk about surprised!
Who's excited for November? I can hardly wait! Of course I still have no clue what I'm writing... though ideas are percolating.
Now: How does one get to the "archives"? I want to get back to the "Year of Doing Big, Fun, Scary Things Together" topic.

Hee, I did the same thing. I've been rabidly re-checking the site all week.
I'm so excited for November now that even though I have no plot, I do have a setting, sort of a genre, and an MC. That's a start, at least. :) I'm hoping to have a title soon, though. Always drives me crazy when I don't have a title.
If you find out how to get to the archives, let us know here, I've been wondering the same thing.
EDIT:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/archives
It's under the "Fun Stuff" menu.

Well this is my first time here and participating. And I can not tell a lie.. I am a bit more than excited. Over the past 4 months I have been working on ideas, concepts and art for my novel and have a mini-tome of "ideas" to put to work now.
One thing I have been struggling with in preparation is finding that ideal writing location. I have long given up writing from my home as the amount of distractions are immense. I have a week of vacation I plan on using in November just to be able to get out and write. No trips, just excuses to get out somewhere during the day.
So anyone have any great, hidden away locations in Spokane/CDA they care to share? My best wrtiing have been in little places where public roles by. Waterside... outdoors in rainy weather (surprisingly, lots of bad weather in my novel lol). My favorite locations in Ilwaco, WA on the coast, but thats just a bit more than a quick drive lol.
Thanks for any ideas and I look forward to the fun ahead!!!!

Quazar: I don't have any "ideal" writing spot, really. But a couple years ago I started an "all night write a thon" tradition... they did it last year and i hope (crosses fingers) it happens again this year. It goes from roughtly 10pm to roughly 6am: munchies, a quiet room, a dozen other writers with laptops... all clicking away together. People generally say they get more done in that writing session than usual.
That said: last year I rented a room at a hotel in Coeur d'Alene... it's on the lake, and my room had a nice view of the lake, and was right next to a walking trail. Of course it was rainy and I couldn't walk or really see across the lake all that well. But I'm going to do it again this year. Bennett Bay Inn: they usually have a $75 first night, $25 second night special... and all rooms have jacuzzi's and are "theme rooms". I wanted the fantasy suite (dragons, wizards) last year but the jacuzzi went out, so I stayed in the Galaxy suite instead. It was kinda cool... the wallpaper had planets, and glow in the dark stars all over. But what made me fall in love: a Star Trek enterprise picture above the bed... and it lit up. (Yep: I'm a trekkie). It's nice for blocking out all "real life" distractions (the room, not the Enterprise picture)... and then there's the jacuzzi to relax in after a long day of typing.
Something else I'm trying this year: packing my laptop around town, finding new restaurants and clubs to sit and type in. Not all the time (can't afford it!) but once in a while. My brilliant idea: "advertise" that I'm a writer... and see if I can get any donations for The Office of Letters and Light. But... I'll see how that goes. I'm so introverted, I might never get myself brave enough to get out and do it.
I'm also thinking of heading to the Casino on one of my days off. Catch the bus and type on the way... and then write while there. I guess it all depends on my mood, and what my novel dictates.

Ami: I Found that archive spot before. Sadly, they don't have 2007 up yet.

I have a bunch of secret places to go write but I like the group things too.
All nighters rock!
I did plan 5 days out in the woods with my family at the start of november...no electricity, either I find a solar charger or do crazy word count before or after. What was I thinking?
Also, my days off would have been perfect for write ins this year but they decided to do a shift bid and everything may be on its head before I start. Ugh! Time to rethink a few things.
FYI, you can make a customized starbucks card and they give you free tmobile time depending on how much you charge the card....go to the startbucks site and check it out. They already saved my bacon in the middle of a hurricane this year so ebing from Washington I can no longer trash talk the Starbucks.

This is my first year in the Spokane group. Q__Q
I'm actually coming out of Cheney, but this is the closest group so I hope I'll be able to participate in any get-togethers we might encounter.
I'm totally psyched for this year, but I'm going in such a different direction in terms of style than I did these last few years that I'm totally stressing out. XD

I'm feeling a mix of anxiousness and excitement right now. I haven't been able to do Nanowrimo in a few years, but I'm ready for it now. Well, not really, I still have to decide between three plots I have in mind. But I never make decisions till the last moment, so I probably won't choose one until Halloween. The all-nighter write-in event sounds good to me, since I like writing through the night. But I'd have to use paper, so hopefully I won't get any hand-cramps.

One of my favorite places to visit is The Service Station on N. Nevada at the bottom of the hill after Magnesium. It is on the west side of the street. It is a huge non-profit coffee shop with a fireplace and incredible treats, both sweet and savory. For a small purchase, they will give you a code for wireless internet, and there are outlets all over the place. Lots of comfortable seating. It is a popular study spot for college students. It is open Mon-Sat, 6am-11pm, Sundays 7am-10pm. Check out their website to see a map and a menu. www.theservicestation.org

I love the Service Station. The coffee is not bad, but I mostly go there when they have the Christian concerts they host. I've seen some big-name acts there.

I used to use The Service Station all the time, but it just got too crowded. Maybe it's gotten better lately.

It depends on what time you go to the Service Station. I went there to write a few days ago and it was fine for the first hour, just a few people. After a while though, it was so crowded and noisy I couldn't concentrate. That's saying something because I'm one of those people who can block out a hurricane while writing.
