Yep! Never too early to get the ball rolling on the kick off party!

The reason I wanted to get this discussion going now is because November 1 is on a Saturday this year. Which means it could either be a great day for a kick off party/write-in, or if a write-in is unpopular it could be better to have it the Friday (Oct 31) or Saturday (Oct 25) before.

Since scheduling is a big part of this, let us know what's good for you! And would you like to try a write-in as part of the kick off this year? Or stick to our usual social snack-pot-luck only?

For what it's worth, since I've never been to a kick-off party before, I would not like to do a write-in on the very first day. I'd sort of like a re-connecting moment or two before jumping into word wars and the like.
The 25th is bad for me personally, since it's my daughter's last cross-country meet and the only one her father is flying down to be present at.
A Halloween party has potential, but might be problematic for those of us with kids.
Is a Sunday a non-option for most? I'd certainly be willing (no surprise there. :) )
I'll go with the flow though, whatever is best for the most people.

Miri and I want to suggest a late kick-off party on Halloween (maybe starting at nine or ten), followed be a write-in at mid-night for those who want to stay. We could do it at our house so if people wanted to crash instead of driving home in the middle of the night, that would be fine. This may be the only year we get to start right at midnight on Nov 1.

I think we've had the kick-off party here the last three years, so if you want a change of venue, I understand. Miri and I will try to make it, whatever the group decides.

Kick off party - I like the party at Pam and Miri’s with the option of staying for a midnight write-in.

Although, I must admit…last year was my first and the meeting at Joshua Cup during October really fired me up to organize my ideas and pin up my “story-walls”

I guess what I’m saying is this: I too will go with the flow. Our options seem to be Oct 24th, or 25th, or 31st.

I'd love a midnight write-in. I may not be able to stay the whole time, but I can leave the toddler with Nathan, and he can call me if he needs me for the baby.

I would like to state that I would honestly prefer something a little closer to Macon for that reason (and I'm willing to be overruled) because it's quite a drive between Pam's house and my house. :) Not to mention we were pretty much at capacity last year's kickoff over there, and well, we just keep growing every year! (and with no advertising... sheesh!)

Redtarget and I will go with whatever the group decides, Macon or Warner Robins, the 25th or the 31st. We're easy :) Each place is about the same distance/time travel for us (40 minutes). I know where we go should be big enough to accommodate all who may show up. A write in would be cool but not sure how late we would be able to stay.

Any thoughts yet on the kick-off party? I am commited on the 25th during the day, but that night I am free that I can tell, unless I get committed again. (that doesn't sound right does it?) But I came up with an idea for the 31st, which may be fun --or not. Since it IS Halloween, why not maybe dress up a bit. Possibly as one of our characters in our stories? But, we still have to figure out WHERE to go for this and if we still want to do it on the 31st.

Okay call me nuts, but it was just an idea and I thought it would be a fun thing to do :) (still trying to squelch the inner child in me)

Danielle and I will be getting together over the weekend to cement plans for the Kick Off, taking everyone's comments into consideration :)

I love the costume idea! I'll probably come dressed as one of my characters anyway since she and I have the same sense of "style." (hahaha!) That or my pirate costume from last year's Halloween just for fun.

I wish we had a polling function again!
