I am so psyched. Still plotless, but psyched.

Hello, all! I'm so excited for this year.
Freshman in college, so I'm not going to have that much time, but every spare minute I have will be devoted to winning this year. :)

THE FORUMS ARE BACK. I was so excited yesterday, and then so disappointed when they weren't there. D:

But all is right in the world now. I can't wait to start, though I should probably attempt to put a little order into what I'm going to try to write first. Especially since college has been kicking my butt for the past year (why can't I just graduate already? I hate this so much!), but hey. Life has its ups and downs, or so I've been told.

Looking forward to the fun and excitement with everyone, maybe this time I'll actually get up the nerve to socialize! :)

I'm VERY excited for NaNo to begin, but am, like other people, still PLOT-LESS! I'm livin on the edge, baby!

I'm also very excited to possibly go to some meetups this year! :) Looking forward to the NaNo experience! :)

I'm semi-plotted. My goal is to have a good idea of what I am writing settled in the next week or so. I'm sort of stepping out of my usual area and adding a wee bit of fantasy/horror to my novel this year. Eek.

Plus, I'm almost done with the planning for the first events! Yay! My goal is to have those posted by the end of next week. I just have to discuss my work schedule for the month of November.

I've been plotting a bit here and there on my novel idea since this spring. Not that I have all that much ready to go, but it's at least a start. I'm using the rest of October to finish enough planning to write the draft, then I'll fill in any gaps that will be needed for revision.

I can't wait for Nano to start, I keep looking up at the top of the site at the grayed-out word counting box, waiting for it to be available come the first.

I'm very excited for November 1st! I don't know how many events I'll make it to (I work every sunday from 1-5pm at George Eastman House). I also have to admit I've never been to a nano even in the Rochester area and this is my last year living here! Hopefully, I can make it to at least one. Good luck to everyone!

No plot yet, but come Nov. 1st, I'll make up something.

Hello!

This is my second year doing Nano. I've got a lot on my plate right now, but still plan to get it done. I'm currently trying to finish a RS ms and want to be done my the end of october so I can be free to start something new in November.

Good luck everyone!

Hello,
I am new to this site and new to Nano. I have ordered the book, so I am hoping that will shed some light for me.

I live in the Finger Lakes, on Keuka Lake, but Rochester was the closest link I could find, so I hope you all don't mind. I haven't even figured out how the word counts etc. work. I look forward to being a part of it all!

Best wishes,
RebeccaFlys

Hi! I've never heard of NaNo, so I'm completely new to all this. I had an idea for a story a little while ago, but it would require waay to much research to write in a month. This sounds really fun, though, and I'm really looking forward to it!

Is it bad that I have Post-Its counting down until November 1st?

Greetings. First-time Nano, longtime writer. Novel's ready to go. Near-future sf, two months of planning, plotting, research, character sketches, etc. Can hardly wait to get started.
Good luck and good writing to you all.

Hi,
I ordered the Nano book, No Plot No Problem. I read it. It kind of suggests not to work too much on a plot etc. because you get so attached to it that you can't throw caution to the wind and just write.

What do you all think of that?

I think it depends on what kind of writer you are, and how willing you are to 1) throw away something you've developed because you realize something else would work better, or 2) throw away a plan because your story just isn't going that way anymore, or even 3) stick to your plan but force yourself to write it and not let it keep you from writing any less.

Some people jump into NaNo without any sort of plan at all--not because they were negligent or lazy, but because they know that's what works best for them. Others do intensive planning and outlining and background work, because that's what they need.

Chris's book isn't so much saying that the no-plan method of writing is better, just that it is an option if you find too much planning stifling later on. Though I should disclaim that I've never actually read the book, I'm just assuming based on everything else I've seen.

...By the way, hi people. College freshman, new in the area; this will be my fourth nanowrimo. I've very excited.

Hello All:

This is my 3rd year doing NaNoWriMo. Each year I get a little further a head in the word count. I started writing a story a few weeks ago so I may stick with that and see where it goes.

Best of luck to all and especially enjoy it. This is meant to be fun.

Here's to them that wish me well....

I extend a hearty "Welcome and Hello" back to NaNo writers everywhere. If you are returning, thanks for setting an appropriate example! If you're new to NaNo, like me, come on in, the water's great - make a big splash!

OK, I may be plotless, but at least I have a title - that's the first page - DONE!

Hey Everyone!

This is my first year! I'm very excited! I have a plot that I'm working on and I've got some stuff down. Still slow to get started.
Anyone up for meeting and writing at maybe a coffee shop???
