I'm putting in a vote for Wednesday or Friday night write-ins (it is selfish, I'm busy Tue and Thu), and/or maybe a Sunday afternoon again? Anyone want to weigh in? As I said in the location thread, I like Crepeville, Stone's and Common Grounds based on last year, but am open to suggestions.
I'm thinking about actually doing some prep this year before trying to pound out a novel . . . :D

I second you, since Fridays are when I'm free (and every other Wednesday). And Sunday is always a nice day for a write-in. I like those locations as well. I'd probably prefer Crepeville due to my lack o' driving, but if other folks are willing to carpool up...

Yeah, it looks a bit awkward, no?

Apparently they're still working out the kinks in the software this year. We've had our first major hardware crash of the year so far. Hopefully there won't be many more.

I'm a bit busy on Wednesdays, but Friday and Sunday both sound good. All the suggested locations are fine, and likewise for any place to which I can bike without risking my life too much.

I affiliate with the Sac people, but I'm in Davis enough that I can hop aboard if I'm around. But I don't want to influence your decisions because, as mentioned, I'm a Sac person. However, I'll try to drop by at some point.

Hello,
First time Nanowrimo-er here, and I'm trying to get a handle on things. I'm a Davis-ian or Davicean or well, I've been called lots of things. But anyway, just trying to figure out how things work with this whole process. How many other writers are in Davis? How long are the get togethers? Do you write together or just discuss the literary hardships that have arisen? Fill me in please. Thanks.

Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays are all good for me, ATM. I will also be at Common Grounds in the morning and early afternoon on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those of you who don't know me, look for the person with the GIANT, ancient laptop computer (sigh) either hogging two tables, or trying to juggle that computer, a manuscript, and two or three notebooks. That's me.
(I am going to Common Grounds already, so anyone who wants novel preparation is welcome to meet me there one day. My schedule is a bit wonky, as I work it around working out with a friend, but I'll be there Wednesday/Thursday this week, unless I get sick.)
ETA: Want to try and do Wednesday/Friday at Crepeville and Sunday afternoon at Stone's again? That worked well last year, and I like the one day change of pace. Plus -- Stones = Excuse to eat awesome food. And it's hilarious to see people looking at us when we take over the whole place.

How many writers are in Davis varies from year to year, but we usually have around five-ish at a time per write in, more if any folk from other locations drive in. Write-ins go from around 2 hours (probably on weeknights) to longer on weekends, but they are really a drop-in, drop-out sort of thing and you arrive and leave when you want. We have meeting times so we know to look for people coming in, but it's pretty flexible. Writing together AND discussions have been known to happen, often a mix of both. How much writing depends on how diligent people are feeling that day, I think.
I am fine with PurpleKat's scheduling, though if anyone has a car and is going to Stone's, let me know.

but also very exciting sounding~
Fridays and Sundays work the best~ Crepeville is good; but it always seems so crowded there? Stones and/or Common Grounds is pretty decently quiet places and also relatively close.

Not sure if my reply is adding unto anything, but I like crepeville the best too because it's close enough for me to bike over.

Crepeville's not as crowded as you think. We've managed to get seats for everyone at the write-ins, and they aren't so packed as they used to be thanks to the hordes going over to Burgers and Brew. I know of another organization that has meetings there and they seemed to be doing just fine the last time I saw them (hm, last Tuesday). So, not an issue. I recommend that someone bring an extension cord with extra plugs (that's usually me), that's about it to worry about there.

First timer here. Gulp.
I'd love to pop by anything on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I'm pretty new to Davis -- moved here almost a year ago, but still work in San Francisco during the week, so haven't had much chance to meet folks. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all!
Cheers,

I'm a vet student, so I'm most often free later in the evenings or on the weekends. Early afternoons are a crap shoot, thanks to roving lab schedules...
Also, is anyone planning on some pre-NaNo planning sessions?

I'm in Common Grounds most Tuesday and Thursdays from around 8 or 9 am until the afternoon sometime, whenever I run out of energy. My computer has NaNoWrimo stickers all over it. Hard to miss :)

I'd love to join you, but, alas, you're at Common Grounds while I'm stuck in a lecture hall or in an anatomy lab. I'm strictly evenings-only during the week.
I think I'll probably be at Common Grounds on Saturday, from around 2pm until around 4pm. If anyone would like to join me, I'll be doing some NaNo Planning inter-spaced with some P-Chem and horror review writing. I'm trying an actual outline this year, which means there will be serious prepping before November 1st.
I'll be the chick with glasses, a half-knitted sock and the MacBook with XKCD stickers on it.

It's 2:50 Saturday and I'm in common grounds... the guy with glasses, a black polo shirt, and an HP TabletPC (just look for the person tapping his laptop screen with a pen). Sitting toward the back, too. I don't know if anyone else is here, but there aren't any obvious wrimos that I can see. I won't be here for much longer anyway...

two other downtown suggestions:
ciocolat: they open until 2 am thur-sat now.
delta of venus: they are open until midnight during week days with beer, caffeine, and food...although they close early on sundays (like, 2 pm)...not sure about saturdays.

Cicolat is way too small to handle us, I think. Sometimes only two or three of us show up, but it can also be a lot more. (Plus: Not so good for my waistline.) Delta Venus, I don't know. I remember it being pretty crowded, though.

I don't care either way about ciocolat.
delta: it really depends on when you go in...it can be crowded at times, but other times it can be just fine/not filled up at all, esp when people choose to sit outside.

I kinda think no about Delta, mainly because all the room there is outside and we may very well have to sit outside...in November. Brrr. I guess this is why I practically never go there.
My other writing group (I am in two now, oy) has been meeting at Cloud Forest Cafe this month. They're not open for any nightly write-ins, but they've got WiFi and outlets for any weekend afternoon sessions. I've been there when they were packed and when they were empty, though, so I can't say how full they might be.

Fridays and Sundays would be best for me, and Crepeville is convenient because I can bike there. If not, Common Grounds is fine too. I'm new to Davis and I haven't been to a write-in but they sound like a lot of fun! I definitely plan to show up.
