Well - I am "from" Whitehorse (grew up there then had the audacity to get married and move -lol). But unfortunately not living there right now. My family is still there - if that counts!

I guess that means we can't meet up at Tim's for a writing session! Hahaha. Unless of course you're bored and driving to the territory!

I'm down with meeting at baked. Starbucks is good for fodder.
How about this: Saturday, November 1, 2008 we meet with paper, laptop, PDA at Baked at 10am!

hey Lisa, since you're organizing a kick-off, you should think of being ML for Canada:Elsewhere.

there's going to be more people soon - Jerome's getting his class to do NaNoWriMo.

I'm back in Whitehorse and up for giving NaNoWriMo another go. I didn't get in on it at all last year, and I wound up being too busy to finish up the few years I'd participated before that. Things are a little different this year though, so I should be able to pump something out.

Is Baked that place towards the end of Main?

Baked is at the corner of Main and First. It use to be called (I'm going to spell it wrong) The Bakari. I can't wait! And, Melford...what is ML? If it stands for Media Leak - I can do that.

So, my big question is....and maybe it's self-explanatory.... but, if we meet at Baked Nov 1st, how will we know each other?

Lisa: ML = Municipal Liaison. you can find details on this site somewhere.

ChipZone - we'll be the ones writing :-). i'll probably be wearing my writing hat - a black Republic of Newfoundland baseball cap worn backward, with one or two notebooks, and consuming caffeine like it's some kinda drug. look for copies of No Plot No Problem.

November 1 is fast approaching! I am so excited! Looking forward to meeting all at Baked. We could discuss possible dates and times for future meetings for those who enjoy writing in groups. I actually do better under pressure, so if I see someone else typing madly while I'm stuck, I'll be more motivated to do BETTER.

I often go down to Baked Saturday or Sunday mornings to write anyway. It usually gets pretty busy on Saturdays. Do you want me to go earlier than 10 and try and secure the large table?

Hi! That sounds good, Chipzone. I will try and get there earlier as well, but I think I might be staying up until midnight to start straight away and see where I get from there. I'm going to Baked most definately for 10am...earlier if I'm super motivated. I'm not sure how many of us will be there, but it's going to be exciting. Not too sure what I'll be wearing, but I'll be pulling a laptop out of a backpack drinking a chai latte for starters and then mainlining regular coffee after that.

Great! I will try and score the large table for all us Nano's to use....so that's where I'll be. Not sure what I'll be wearing either, but I'll have a fancy travel mug, a laptop and an ugly green pack.

See you there.

Oh, what the heck, I will join you in throwing words in a half 'Baked' attempt to actually write 50,000 words in November.
I might even show up at 'Baked' tomorrow.

Lisa, you will know me. :)

Hello! We had our first sit in write out loud meeting on Saturday. All appeared to go well and we learned what happens when Extrovert meets Introvert in a bar, a coffee bar.
I thought it went pretty good. I got further in to the writing and would like to write again at a coffe shop. I think this time I'm going to try Starbucks on Main and Second. I'll be there at 4pm (give or take a few minutes) on Monday.
I hope everyone remembers to continue to update their number stats.
HAVE FUN!

I'm out in Haines Jct but am interested in getting together with others to write. If you're meeting up anywhere on the weekends let me know I'd like to join in when I can.

I definitely think that would be cool. I'd be up for it. Just a thought - perhaps we could arrange for somewhere like Baked to let us all have the run of the place one evening after 7pm. I know there are other events such as Art Exhibits and Brave New Words which happen after hours, but I don't know exactly what the arrangements are for that. Lauren Tuck would know. She coordinates many of the Arts stuff there.

That's a great idea! Maybe we could arrange for it to coincide with the November 15 write in in San Fran? Just a thought. It is a Saturday and I know that I'm not doing much else but writing on Saturday evenings anyhow...:o)

So how are we going to organize this?

I contacted Lauren today and need to call her to discuss hows and whats for using Baked if we want. Hope that's ok. I don't want to jump the gun too far ahead without knowing what everyone else wants. Does everyone want me to just try and set it up?

Is there a better way to contact each other to arrange this (Nano Mail, in person Saturday at Baked, regular email, phone?) and then we can just post the details or where and when? Jerome, what would work for your students?

I will find out the particulars on the space etc. from Lauren today or tomorrow so we know what they are.

Hello everyone,

Given there are so many of us, including Jerome's two classes and it's been suggested we pack one spot at least one night, I have gathered information about using Baked Cafe one evening. I'm not sure if this is an idea everyone likes or not, but having it in an artsy place with coffee/tea and goodies at hand appeals to me.

If we all want to set it up at baked for one evening I just need to know which night and how many people we would expect. Then Lauren will find out if it is available and if they can get staff in to work that evening and let us know. ( A week or so's notice is preferable)

If all Jerome's students participate that would mean there would be somewhere around 27 of us which would make it worth while for all parties. But if there is only a small handful of people who are going to come then it wouldn't be fair to hold it there.

Lisa suggested the 15th, but I'm not sure we can pull it together in a week especially from the point of view of getting information out to people.

What does everyone think?

Hi! If it can work for the 15th that would be awesome to coincide with the big bash down south. If it can't happen that night, that's cool too. Just a suggestion.
Just let me know the day! I would prefer something other than Monday or Wednesday - that's about it!
Hope everyone is having a blast.
I've been seeking out coffee shops in the early morning light. I get to Starbucks around 6am and write until about 740am before work. If anyone else is a little loopy like me in the mornings, that's where I am! :o)

that said, i'm fine for the 15th. it's Saturday, so i have to come in after the jam (after 7.30pm).

Ok, I'm up for the 15th, but it won't be at baked. ...Talked to Jerome last night and we're going to organize a wrap up at baked.

However, do wll of us who feel like meeting on the 15th want to meet at Starbucks on Main???

And Lisa, which Starbucks do you go to at 6,,,,I'd be game for meeting you there.

Anyway, I'll be at Baked this morning....maybe see you there.

I should change my name to "officially insane." I could possibly be. I go to the one in the strip mall by Walmarx. I'm game for a wrap up party at Baked. I'm also game for Starbucks on Main on the 15th - I'll have to be there in the earlier part of the day though. I've got to watch guys beat up guys at 7pm. How about we meet there instead of at Baked around 10?
