Me first.

I think this might be my first forum post in 4 years of NaNoing. sheesh.

Name: Jessi
Location: "Upper Georgetown/Glover Park"
Nanohabits: just trying to get it done. I shoot for the 5K marks rather than individual days--every three days is another 5K. But last year I only made it to 10K, and was sorely disappointed in myself. So this year, I don't care how busy I am. I will finish.

Hello!

Yes, I'm in, trying this one more time:)...I'm committed to finishing, but this will be my third year, and I haven't done that yet. But I've got a lot riding on this - book due to editor. So I'm ready to get this party started.

Nanohabits: I may even try writing at work this year..that might help me focus actually. I always start well, but it's tough finishing after a miss even one day of writing...so clearly there are no holidays in November. NONE.

Hi all,
I completed my goal in 2005, but I had to take two years off because I was working two jobs and going to gradschool. Now that I'm only working the one job I'm excited to get back to writing and love working with others, so writins are a must.

Name: Jamie
Location: Mt. Pleasant
E-mail: Nano or jamie.henthorn@gmail.com

Nanohabits: Lots of music; coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings (I get more writing done in the evenings). I do a day of writing down structural ideas and basic plot, then a day of editing/fleshing out so I spend more time with each part. Am trying to do a novel of travel vignettes this year, but we'll see how that goes.

Hi, I've tried this experiment in the past and failed, but this year I'm determined!

Name: Alli
Location: Arlington (I work on the Hill)
E-mail: nanomail is fine
AIM: bluestshade
Nanohabits: I'll probably do most of my noveling on the weekends since I work full time. I'm hoping that since congress will not be in session in November it wont be too crazy at work and I'll have more time for writing.

This will be my 7th Nano. I've "won" five.

Name: Jon
Location: I live in Columbia Heights, work near the White House
Email/chat: Start with Nanomail, although I'm not that hard to find online.
Nanohabits: My daughter will seven weeks old on October 31st, so I don't have any idea how I'm going to manage to do any writing at all. I'm determined to try, though.

Every year I swear I'll get to a write-in, and every year I fail. This year, I plan to do the same.

Hi there. I did my very first Nano last year with the DC group. Now that I've moved to Silver Spring I get emails from the organizers in Maryland begging me to make their state my "home region" so they can up their word count. But I think I'm sticking with DC.

Name: Bonnie
Location: Silver Spring
Email: Nanomail
Nanohabits: 1600 a day. Except during Thanksgiving when I have to trek to the farthest reaches of Washington County, Maine and back again, god help me. Hope to meet up at Politics & Prose!

Favourite spots: SoHo (Dupont Circle), Borders Cafe (Friendship Heights), formerly Foster Brothers (Cleveland Park). Oh, and I'm totally planning on doing lunchtime writing at any restaurant I can afford as many days as I can actually escape my office during lunch :P I'm at 13th and L if anyone wants to do lunchtime writing with me!

Hey. Patrick Lewis here.

hithereeveryone@yahoo.com

I write continuously and don't save it up for nano, much to the chagrin of my loving wife.

I am now the writer for the web comic Girl Ninja for Rebecca Simms, so try googling that and you will see my handiwork.

Aside from that, I'm one of the few, the proud, the somewhat slack that have been having write-ins at SoHo on Wednesdays since last Nano.

Later

Patrick.

NaNoHabits: It works best when I write steadily every day on a story that I enjoy. I hated my story last year and decided to stop. I'm hoping this year will be different! I may take a previous NaNo (I've completed four challenges but only one story), rip it apart, and start over. Then again, I may not.

It's my first NaNoWriMo and I've never made it past 20,000 on anything I've started. So fingers crossed that this works and I make it to 50,000!

Hi. I actually moved from Silver Spring into DC this year (though Maryland is just across the street).

Name: Katie
Location: Friendship Heights/American University
E-mail: Nano or katieoneill28 [at] gmail.com
Nanohabits: I'll write just about anywhere if I get a chance. My favorite part of nano is being able to write with others.
And I'm so glad not to be done with the story I tried last year. (though it got almost interestingly strange when I tried to make it... interesting.)

Hi there!

Name: Virginia Ruth
Location: Great Falls, VA
Email: Nanomail or virginiaruth at gmail.
Nanohabits: The only time I've won was when I had spent September and October doing plot and character work. So, I'm doing that :-) I do best writing about 3K at a time, so if I can write four days a week, I'll be in good shape.

Nano habits: I write at home, on slow days at work, or in downtown Silver Spring (usually borders or Adega). I'm not terribly good about doing nano socially (I think I only went to the opening meet-up in Union Station last year), but we'll see if I make it out more this year.

AIM n' such: don't have it

Eep, I can't believe it's already the 17th and I haven't even introduced myself! Not that I don't constantly prowl the forum anyway... I just forgot to say hello. How rude of me...

NaNohabits: Not Winning. Two years running, have never gotten past the second week. Long stories about why both years; suffice to say that I'm a newly confident NaNoer this time around. My habits will probably involve lots of whining and hot cocoa with cinnamon.

Favorite writing spots around town are definitely Soho in Dupont, Tryst in Adams Morgan and the ever-faithful Politics and Prose. (How typical!)

Nanohabits: Well, I've never tried it here in DC since I only just moved down here. But I'm really close to SoHo in Dupont (the one at 22nd and P; I don't know if there's another one). I did a lot of write-ins last year in Second Life which was awesome because I didn't have time to go seek out write-ins in my old area. I tend to go stream-of-consciousness when I write instead of planning out my plots. I'm looking forward to some real write ins!

Hi everyone!

Name: Allison
Location: Glover Park/American University
E-mail: You can reach me through Nano
Nanohabits: Rather poor so far. I've signed up the last two years, but never got very far. I have vowed this year will be different, despite silly distractions like my job and graduate school. We have so many AU kids here we ought to organize a write-in somewhere on/ near the campus. Any suggestions?

Hey, everyone! I've done NaNoWriMo 4? 5? times but have never finished. The closest I've ever gotten was 20,000 words ... but I am determined to cross the finish line this year!

Name: Erin
Location: Capitol Hill / Stadium-Armory area
E-mail: NaNoMail

NaNo Habits: Writing away from the homefront is ideal, using my ancient laptop that cannot get wireless (prevents excessive procrastination via web surfing) and listening to music. If I try to write at home, I get too easily distracted by the TV, the internet, my husband and my cats.
