VOTING IS OVER: The Meet and Greet will be Monday, October 20. Details here.
It's time to start planning this year's South Bay Meet and Greet. "What's the South Bay Meet and Greet?" you ask? It's a casual, late-October gathering of NaNoWriMo participants from the South Bay, getting together to meet one another, catch up with old friends, talk about novel ideas (or lack thereof), and generally get excited about November. There will be food, there will be door prizes, there will be FUN!
Ian and I have come up with three potential dates for the meet and greet. On any of these dates, the event will take place in the evening, probably between 7 and 9pm. PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD saying which dates you are be able to attend, and we will do our best to choose the day that works for the most people.
* Friday, October 17
* Monday, October 20
* Tuesday, October 21
We'll likely have the meet and greet at the Round Table Pizza on Old San Francisco Rd in Sunnyvale, where we held last year's event. We are open to suggestions of alternate locations, but be aware that due to the size of the group and the free nature of the event, the requirements are fairly restrictive. We are looking for a public, all-ages venue where we can reserve a private room that holds at least 30 people for no charge (or a very low charge, no more than $20) in a place where food can be purchased or where we can bring in food. If you know of a location that meets this criteria, please let us know.
Remember, REPLY HERE to vote for your preferred meet and greet date!

The best would be October 20th for me. October 21st also works, but that is my birthday and I'd rather be with my daughter that night (that doesn't mean that you aren't all wonderful people, mind you :-).
I look forward to this year's Nanowrimo!

The 20th works best for me. The 17th is less convenient, but I still might be able to make it, and the 21st just isn't doable at all.

I'm pretty neutral on the dates. Friday would be nice since it's my day off so I'll be well rested (I've got classes Monday through Thursday) but I have no time conflicts with any of those days. Just let me know when and I'll do my best to be there. *grin*

Monday the 20th works best for me, though I will voice a bit of concern about having a meet-n-greet in a pizza place if there's a football game on. Does that place have TVs around which noisy fans will be gathering?

Oh, thanks for raising that point, which as a total non-sports person, I hadn't thought of. At that Round Table, we'd have a separate but not entirely isolated room, so noise from the main dining room would still affect us. I don't have any idea if it's the sort of place a lot of people would gather to watch a game. The few times I've been there, it hasn't been especially crowded. I'll look into it.

Oops - I have another event on Monday which I shouldn't miss. So, Friday or Tuesday are best.
Aack! The first minute write-in conflicts with a Halloween party this year which I've attended for the past 25 years --- NaNo may win out.
