Anyone participating who lives in these general areas? I love sort of in between (Biloela), and wondering if I'm all by my lonesome out here in the middle of nowhere.

Two from Biloela? I've got mates there, I'm from Gladstone myself. This'll be my second Nano.

I'm from Gladstone too, not Biloela (whoops, haha), just shady about giving out my location - but no longer.

Now let me ask you, are you annoyed that there's no real bookstore here?

Yes and no. Most of the books I want I can get from Big W or KMart, anything else I have to outsource or library. But I enjoyed walking into Dymocks and being able to browse the books :( There was another book store in the shopping centre for about 3 weeks, what happened to it?

Hello All,

Looking forward to another year of fun and scribbling...

So, has everyone decided what they are writing about yet?

Cheers,

I loved that too.

That place was just an Angus and Robertson temporary store where they tried to sell all of the books they couldn't sell in Rockhampton. It's gone/going now because they're trying to get someone to start another Dymocks store in there, but I don't think there's any takers yet.

Ahh. That explains why it came and went so quickly.

Greg,

I think I have my main plot sorted out. Another post-apocalypt-y tale about a soldier on a mission to find out why the mail stopped coming, while wife of said soldier is embroiled in a court case over custody of their unborn child.

Biloela only has a Christian Bookstore. :\ If you want books, you have to go to the library (or the internet). I'm glad so many people are from the general area, though, I thought I was all by my lonesome! I've got my characters worked out, so all I've got left to do is an outline and I'll be ready for November!

Anyone else going to have to put in doubletime on their nano so they're done before Wrath of the Lich King comes out? :V

Ooh, shame about having only a Christian bookstore (not that it's bad, but you know what I mean). I was surprised, too, that they are a few people around here. Never expected it.

My plot is, well, dormant - shall we say. I had one, and then dumped it for a simpler one, but that one was boring me. At the moment I'm leaning towards twisting children's stories, 'cause that's always fun.

I've never even heard of Wrath of the Lich King! I hope you finish your novel in time to watch it, though.

Wrath of the Lich King is the next World of Warcraft expansion. I'm undecided. On one hand, I don't particularly want to play anything of the expansion until I get my main to 70. On the other, I'd love to have it from day one. I'm only 41 atm, and have two exams plus work that will make the slog to 70 before WotLK difficult. Hmm, decisions decisions.

You could always just buy it, and then use, err, self control? and not play it until you've reached your goal?

Gladstone for me, wow that's rather neat two other Nano participants in the same town. Nanowrmo certainly has to be one of the most enjoyable times in the year. Sometimes you forget how nice it is to just write without obsessing over structure and the impact of each sentence. Allows us all to really shine with ideas. Well thats how I feel anyway ^.~

All the best everyone, not long till it starts! XD

Welcome back Greg! Good to see you here again mate!

If you get as involved as you did last year I might find myself hanging out in the Gladstone forum a bit. :)

Good luck to all - this is going to be a blast!

Brad.

Hiya all,

Well, one week out, and I'm getting the "plot line jitters". Do I go with the Arthurian Parody, or should I try my hand at Romance? Could I do it? Should I do it?! Dunno.

I'll be working on the opening night, so with a bit of luck I'll get to start on my smoko break. And even better, we Qld'ers, who aren't on daylight saving time, get to start an hour earlier than everyone else in the country of Oz. Mwhahahaha!!

Of course, we have to finish an hour early than everyone else at the end of the month, but hey, we can worry about that later : )

Ok, back to thinking about possible plot lines...

Cheers,

Gb

Wish you'd been around last year when I was in Monto, Raven! I'm now in Bundy but will be going back to Monto for a bit at some stage during November, maybe I could visit you in Bilo for a mini-nano-meet so you don't feel so out of the loop! :)

Greg,

finishing an hour earlier means we get to celebrate an hour earlier!

Well good people of the Gladstone Region I hope you're all ready to roll tonight. Conjugate those verbs, exercise those adjectives... find a plot line worth followng : )

Looking forward to tracking your word counts this weekend.

If anyone's been paying attention I've done a last minute change from Arthur - the Parody, to A Time To Bloom... a romance novel. I must be insane. Of course, in Nano terms, this is a good thing to be : )

Anyway, one last hurrah: Go Gladstone Go!

Gee it's nice to be able to say that this year...

Cheers all, and see you on the otherside of midnight,

Oh my goodness I must have switched my story idea a million times. I thought I had it for most of the month, but here I am at 9pm the night before finishing up a detailed outline for what I'm finally going to do. Probably. Maybe. Oh dear I think I'm doomed.

I stocked up on Nescafe today, so I'm ready to rock and roll. Pondering going to sleep early so I can get started earlier. Or maybe juicing up on said Nescafe and start writing at midnight like Greg!

Good luck to everyone! Go go nano!

I'm doomed too! I have done some work on my character profiles, and I have a basic outline ... but it'sonly 3 hours until the start and I can only hope that fingers-crossing counts!

I'm hoping to pound the keyboard big time this weekend, to make up for mid-week busies.

Good luck, fellow crazies!

Okaay We're Awaaay!!

C'mon Glado, Bilo, Rocko Writers! Let's crank up the word count and show this State what we're made of... apart from coal, beef, and alumina, and all the other stuff we get covered in on a daily basis around here : ).

Cheers,
