We all know Tassie is the best place to be so here we are to write and celebrate the awesome of Tassie and all that. This is my third year of Nano with two wins under my belt I think I'm going to be doing something a little different this year, so hopefully that works out.

So drop by and introduce yourself, you never know who you might meet - it's Tassie after all XD

I know my brother is around here someplace.... *goes off to scout for Wrageowrapper*

Hi!

Hope you enjoy yourselves this year ^__^

Is anyone writing a particularly 'tassie' themed story? Not that I am particularly but I like to make my settings reminiscent of the places I like here.

Hmm, according to my profile I joined in 2002, so that makes this the 7th year? I feel old :(

Another Tasmanian here! There's a few of my friends around too, although they don't really forum. I was thinking of trying to get a group started at uni, but with exams around the start of the month I think only the truly insane like me would be up for it.

...Who knows, maybe I will do some recruiting. >_>

Well that makes 5 known! Good luck with exams and yes you might be crazy, exams plus 50,000 words for a novel. Too easy, I guess if you have an idea. I am still waking up in cold sweats trying to get an idea.
Gotta happen soon...

Another Tasmanian! Wewt!

Tomorrow - last year was my first year, and I offer this important piece of advice. PLAN. Make a plan, try to keep to it if you can, and ration your time.

Anyone else here from Launceston? I'd love to have a NaNo buddy to actually go hang out with while I'm writing!

Tolly 's advice is good, plan. I too am a little unplanned but I went into the Script Writing Frenzy link off NaNo home site and found help. Questions about MC/protoganists antagonist and more. I tried answering the questions about the MC and found it very focussing and I actually came up with somehting. Of course it is only a start and I have already made changes to my characters but it was a helpful exercise to get started.
good luck

Nervousness is a big part of the NaNo. The pressure is enormous, the best thing to do is to harness all that nervous energy. Go for a run, play some sport, something that burns it off and takes you away from the novel. Trust me, it helps.

Calling all Launceston/Nearby Towns NaNoers! Anyone want to go see a movie late October? I thought it could be a nice thing to do, get together for some social time before we lose ourselves to our novels.

I'm another Taswegian! I failed Nano miserably last year, so this year I'm hoping to go much better. Even though its a totally different genre than what i'm used to...

Good to see some other islanders here! ^^

Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to take it, I really want to succeed, and with a lot of November off school I should definitely have time!

Anyone here a young one like me? I'd love to get to know people my age who are participating too!

Putting my hand up for my third? fourth? year of Nano.

Gah, this year has completely snuck up on me and I only have the bare basics of a plot skittering about my brain. I'm going to have to buckle down and start some serious plotting in the coming weeks.

Wow the Tasmanian contingent is growing! There are a few of us first-timers me included. Oh how I envy those with a plot ! I am still on the slippery slope and going down quicker than up. Hey that will change it has to. Hanging on for the ride anyway. Good luck and inspired writing to all.

I'm not going to worry about outlining a plot. I'm not even sure what genre I will be writing, but I am trying to get some character profiles together just so I have some kind of focus.

Yullo, people. Thought would check in. Any of you in Hobart?

I failed quite well last year, although not sorry I had a go as it does help you to write more.

This year I will do a young adult novel (plot not yet forthcoming but I have already written some of it).

What are you supposed to do if you're already got some of it written? Do you just deduct it from your total?

Hello everyone!

I'm also in Tassie and have joined up to write a novel in November 08. My workmate found this site and let me know about it... It's set to be an amazing experience and I'm so glad to get to be a part of it!

Best of luck to all involved!!!

I found a plot!! Oh the joyful glee. It's still very bendy, but I'm oh so glad to have a starting place.
Also, narrowing down the location range and placing myself in the Hobart area too. ^_^v

Hello, hello. Am also a Tasmanian in the Hobart area. Failed miserably at NaNo last year (got distracted by a shiny object, I swear, or rather I didn't actually have a plan) but this year...I have a good feeling about it. I hope. :-) It could just be the almost-plot lulling me into a false sense of security.

HI!

Looking forward to starting my frst NaNo this year. So excited! Have no idea what I'm going to write about - have a couple of different story ideas, one historical Tassie type one... (about a convict...) another kids fantasy type story... or maybe something else will come up on Nov 1! Silly me though has agreed to go camping with friends on the weekend... now that could be good - a bit of a break, and chance for my brain to clear, get the creative juices flowing, or it could result in me having 2 lost days of November!!

Guess I'll just have to wait and see...

Heather

Oh - I'm also in the Burnie area...
