Hey folks!
Got a few hellos on the streets already!
Blenky here, arguing with my cat for space on the desk. I'm a substitute teacher on top of being crazy up here in Thompson and I'm your fearful leader in this insanity!

This is the thread for those of us waaaay up North! Been adjusting my computer for optimal comfort, stocking up on Starbucks cards, trying to get thing together for my third Nano (second as an ML, whoohoo!).

Wonder which days would work best for everyone? I'm thinking Sundays at the Library here in Thompson 3-4 and maybe an evening during the week, like Thursday if anyone was interested...place to be debated on. Any other suggestions? Lemme know!
Talk to you later!

Hey. New to Thompson but not to Nano, pretty excited for a local group. I'm tentatively in for Sundays at the library!

Hello! I'm your go-to girl for Starbucks coffee and literary prompts. I'm a two-year vet for NaNo, and once again, I'm flying by the seat of my pants in regards to a cohesive plotline.

The name is Emily in Reality, but everywhere else, I'm Cassandra.

Stop by Starbucks at any time and chillax with me, home skillets!

~Cassie

PS: Any time I can sit down and write with y'all, so long as I know a bit in advance, I can book the time off work!

Thanks for the welcome, Azzie-chan! I actually sort of like Thompson...but I cried a little when it snowed last week.

So...how does it work up here? Kickoff party? Pre-meeting? We all start wearing notebooks like hats to recognize each other in street? :D

We should totally do that!

Don't be too sad about the snow. When it gets to about mid-December, our ski hill opens up!

We usually do a kick-off thing either at the library or in a little coffee shop called Northern Flavors. This year, though, I don't know what's going to be happening. Neither me or my comrade-in-words, Briana, are going to be here for the kick-off (leGASPE!) We're going to be in The Pas for a mandatory jazz festival.

(Extremely belated) Welcome to Thompson, Losgann! I'm glad you're liking it here. We really aren't such a terrible bunch of ogres once you get to know us. We just have layers, like onions!

(Please please please forgive me for that. I'm listening to the Shrek 3 soundtrack right now ^_^; )

Your fearless Thompsonite leader here.
Just checking my calendar of events and I was thinking it should go something like this,

Saturday November 1st at the Library around 2ish (sooner if you like) for our kick off party! I warn you, if you don't show up, I will be the one sitting there like an idiot...wait, never mind that might be fodder to some of you.

Sundays from then on from 3-5 for write-ins!

A mid-month kevtch at Northern flavors on the 15th, say 4ish (not sure how late they are open on saturdays, will try to get that info.

a Northern Flavours write in on the 6th and the 20th, time unsure right now but I'm thinking 4-5 ish

I'd also like to try to do an all day write-in (when the library opens until closes, anyhow) on the 27th or the 28th, just to give us a bump in our word counts.
Anyone have any objections or suggestions? Get back to me, people.

Happy plotting!
Blenky

Oh... xPP
Well apparently I can write but I can't read? xD
[sorrehh ilu 83]

& I'm glad you like it here in Thompson!
I don't like the snow either. xD
(Until ski season starts. x3)

& right now I think Northern Flavours is only open on weekdays. :T

OK, I signed up again this year but with great trepidation cause - unlike last year - I don't have a clue what I am going to write about this year. I don't have a beginning, a middle, or an end. Do you think this might slow me up a little? Oh well, looking forward to the kick off. Since it is on the weekend, I should be able to make it!

We'll be happy to have you ShannonRae! You probably don't have a plot yet because Dracula is sucking everything out of you, pun intended. I can't wait until opening night!

Thx Blenky, just love a good pun! You're probably right about Dracula though. Just think, after it's done I'll have 6 whole days to come up with a plot, map it out, develop characters, etc., etc. Or do like last year and just wing it! Anyway, this year I don't have to be anywhere on December 1st, so I really get the whole 30 days, not just 29.

How about you? Does the saga continue this year? Or will this be a brand new storyline?

Hey Tina;

Sorry I kind of dropped the ball this year, but I'm finally adding your dates to the calendar - I just want to make sure these are actually go-dates, or has something come up to move them?

Dates are firm,
Write-Ins are every Sunday at the library from 3-5.
Mid-month Kevtch is 15th at Boston Pizza (please rsvp asap so I know how many to reserve for us)
there will be one more attempt at write-in with coffee on the 20th from 4-6 at Northern Flavors.

Thank you Bets for being super ML again this year.

I don't want a time turner, just some magic house fairies to clean my apartment. I'd settle for that.

So how are everyone's novels going? Are the creative juices flowing or are you dragging your words, kicking and screaming, onto your manuscript?

Out of curiosity, where in the library are the write-ins? I was there today but did not really see anyone typing away like mad on laptops or computers in general so I stayed in the book area for an hour and a half, crammed out a good 1200 words and left at 4:30.

I booked computers 1-5 in the lab for us every Sunday, folks. I always wear my brown Nano shirt (nanowrimo 10 is visible under the hair) so I will be easier to identify. And feel free to ask the library staff, they know about us! there's also a poster with our names on it in the lab. We have our goals there and everytime we reach the next 10 percent we add a letter! Please feel free to put your name on it and when we have our parties and such, we will do the awards! Everyone who reaches their goals (it doesn't have to be 50k, you can choose) gets a spiffy novelist pin!

and it's offical! I was very late this sunday and didn't get here to the library to start things off on time and we lost our computers...I think I was the only one who showed up, so that might be okay. If I missed you, sorry.

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the Thompson mid-month! It was fun, despite a few weird moments due to my lack of small talk skills. But we're here! Everyone is doing so great! I'm so proud of this years Thompson Wrimos! We're all gonna be winners, I can tell!

Sorry to be MIA lately, but I've been have huge plumbing issues, plus my off-again, on-again back problem has decided to be on again. (Maybe because of all the stooping, lifting, wringing, etc. connected to the pluming issues?) I am sorry I didn't get to meet more people on Friday.

On the plus side, even though my problems have been interfering with my novel progress, I have managed to write at least a little bit every day. If something would just go right this week, so I can focus on writing this weekend I still think I'll make it.

Good luck everyone!

Hey, don't put yourself (or your back) out with all the other things on your plate, Shannon. Take what you can from this year's nano. I have a request for you guys...
Since the last time we tried this it didn't work out so well, mind if we cancel the Thursday write-in at Northern Flavours? I was the only one to show up last time and it looks like I will be again. I have two dozen things that all want to happen on Thursday this week for some reason. I need to bend just a bit, if that's alright folks...
See you Sunday for sure!

Hey Chester! Nice to finally meet you!
So, I'm going to book 2 computers for myself and one other person on Thursday and Friday of this week, unless anyone else wants to join in. I want to do an all day write in at the Library since I have no school and I'm insane. I will actually FINISH the book this year, despite being so close to the finishline, my story isn't and I've skipped huge chunks just to keep going. Lots of editing needed for this one, kiddies.
So, any takers this Thurs and Friday? anyone else without a life?

I think I'll have to bow out of the Thursday/Friday writeins. Thursday is Grey's Anatomy night and Friday is Meat-Draw / Drinking night. Yummy yummy cheap cesars at the Legion woot.
