10th Anniversary Meet & Greet Kickoff Dinner!
Sunday, October 26, 2008
4pm - ?
Chip's Family Restaurant - Orange, CT
---
Let's kick the off this year's 10th anniversary of NaNoWriMo off with a slammin' good time.

The kickoff party has typically been a nicely attended event with writers meeting up, eating some tasty food, exchanging ideas, sharing past NaNo stories, and in general having a good time. This year, will hopefully be no different.

We're meeting at a locally owned restaurant in Orange, Chip's Family Restaurant - home to more than 40 different pancakes! Chip's is conveniently on Route 1, near both I-95 & the Merritt Parkway.

I need to have a head count to pass along to the manager on the 23rd, so please, let me know if you're planning on attending. This is a family friendly event, so mothers & fathers - feel free to bring the kids. And kids - you can bring your parents too.

Directions are available on their website at http://www.chipsrest.com/

Unless my car, or myself for that matter spontaneously combust, i'll be there. And seeing as I'm against spontaneous combustion in general, I should make it in one piece.

Another in-spirit here. My mom won't let me go. She's very scared of internet-stalkers. I'm also 13, so she pretty much has the control thing on me. Have fun, guys!

Like Paul said, I'm sure your mom's welcome to come with. Don't sweat it too much, she's just watching out for you. Hell, I've got about nine years on you and even my mom isn't so thrilled about me hanging out with a bunch of strangers. However, I think given the nature of this group, she's a little more relaxed about it. I mean, really, we're so nerdy that we voluntarily write 50,000 words in a month. Fairly innocuous as far as crazy internet people go. ;D Anyway, who has time to stalk? We have novels to be writing!

Since Busses come to Foxwoods I'm posting this on a few of the surrounding areas.

I know it's a rather odd concept, but taking a bus to Foxwoods might be an option for some (just think you can write on the bus) Come feel the wonder of ... writing!

Ok.. I'll pitch this out there.

Thanks guys; that was the point I was going to make...

until I realized she misstated her intentions. She'll let me go (and of course come along) if we have time... which is unlikely.

But there is hope. So I'm going to be super extra amazing and help out and try to get enough stuff done early, not only to make up for Nov, but also to butter her up. That usually helps my chances. But that weekend, friends from the city are coming down on friday and then other friends on saturday, I've got soccer games on saturday and sunday and a birthday party on saturday for my bestest friend. And she's stressed because her boss sucks, I'm applying for a private high school and she's applying for graduate school (Masters of Library Science. She's as nerdy as I am). And she's having a hard time with her GRE prep. Ich. Not prime conditions, but I'll try. [/whinging]

So I might might might see you guys there. I hope. =D

I will be attending! I'll be bringing a friend of mine if that's okay;
milford is a long drive from Madison and she's actually a co-author of mine.
If that's not permitted, please let me know.
Thank you!

I have music practice on Sundays at 4:30 PM but if I don't locate a drummer that can come to my house by that Sunday I will be able to come to the kickoff at Chip's. I hate to say it but I hope I don't get a drummer. (NO) That's the best I can do for my rsvp. Sorry I can't be more sure. Thanks.

That is most definitely permitted. Looking forward to seeing you both there.

I will be attending, along with my wife and my seven year old. (So any thirteen year olds that can talk their mom's into letting them come that can help keep an eye on a seven year old would be greatly appreciated)

Maybe I'll even get my seven year old to do something like Micro-NaNoWriMo. (We haven't exactly figured out the details. Maybe she'll write her own 1000 word story)

There isn't a specific time it ends. However in the past, its lasted about 2 hours, give or take...
