Thought I'd revive the topic from the Dennanos group for folks who will be twittering their NaNo runs and don't mind sharing their twitter IDs. I'm @spleenical, which means you can read my tweets (twitter posts) at http://www.twitter.com/spleenical
I am pretty new to Twitter, but it's been good times so far.

For those who don't know, Twitter is a microblogging site that lets you post brief messages (under 140 characters) to a feed that you can share with other people. You can post from the site, your cell phone, or other applications like the many that exist for Firefox. If you use Facebook, it's analogous to the status update.

Our Denver MLs, in addition to making an awesome website that you should visit at http://www.dennanos.org, are also twittering Denver NaNo news at http://www.twitter.com/dennanos

And the NaNoWriMo folks have an official account at http://www.twitter.com/nanowrimo

You can also "tag" your tweets by including the phrase #nanowrimo, so that when people search the twitter site for "nanowrimo" they'll find your tweets on the subject.

Decided to create a separate twitter acct for NaNo (my main one is for my programming related interests primarily, so seemed like a good idea to separate the two). So now http://twitter.com/westernwizard/ is live, since they suck and don't allow long enough account names for WizardofWestmarch >(.

Btw someone wrote a tool for twitter that finds posts referencing NaNo, so if you want to track down others involved that aren't just Denverites, this is a good place to look

hey, I finally signed up for Twitter, but I want to just get my feet wet, not drink the ocean.

But it says that adding people by name is temporarily disabled. How do I make contact with just dennanos people?

MD

If you go to someone by url/name (so say for spleen www.twitter.com/spleenical) there should still be a button below their name/icon saying Follow, click that. At least looking it appears that's still available.

I'm probably nutz to add the distraction of learning/doing something new like this right now, but I'm now on twitter too. Using my "regular" blogging and Web username: Suz at Large. See http://twitter.com/Suz_at_Large.

I could create a twitter account only for nano I guess but what the heck I'll just stick with what I've got.
