Hey, I am from Newcastle! Wallsened specifically. How about you?

I am trying to encourage a few other folk I know to get involved too. I don't think I could make it to 50,000 words by myself!

Hey, I'm not from Newcastle, but I am in the Hunter Region. :) I live in Muswellbrook, boring little place it is. XD;

This is my second year doing NaNo, and I've been trying to convince a few friends to do it with me... so far it's not going so great. ^^;

Is Morpeth anywhere near you? The place may be boring JadeMeree, but you are not, and many great works have been created by people in boring places anyway. Forge on alone, don't wait for the world. to come with you

Morpeth is about an hour-ish away.

Yeah, I was planning on NaNo-ing even if my friends did it or not. It's not like I could force them anyway, so eh, more fun (craziness?) for me. :D

I'm north of Newcastle, but asilalenore - I spend a lot of time in Thornton (family there) so maybe we should have some writing buddy time!

Hi Guys,
I'm in the Morpeth/Maitland area. This is my second year of doing NaNo. I have a few of my fellow romance writers doing it as well, always good to have a few buddies around.

Hi all,

I'm in Newcastle, Elermore Vale actually. I would love to meet up with any other local NaNo's for mutual encouragement if anyone is interested.

Sweet, every year more Hunter people join up :D I'm in Lambton.

It would be awesome if we could have a Nano gathering somewhere.

This is my first time, but I have been "planning" on doing it a few times. Lack of commitment will not cause me to stumble this year!

So how about we organise something? A month or two ago I would have suggested Starbucks at Glendale, just so we could really feel like writers, soaking up life in a coffee shop, but that isn't going to happen anymore. Anyone else got a suggestion? I live in Wallsend, work Cessnock and play everywhere else, so location isn't a problem.

Hi there. I'm just outside Muswellbrook (Jerrys Plains to be exact... ). I went to a couple of write in's in Sydney last year, which were fun, but something a little more local would be lovely.

Hey guys!

I'm from Newcastle too - I live in Stockton, go to the U of N. This is, I believe, my fourth or so year - I've never won, and two times I've had to stop because of exams. This year, I have one exam on the 18th, so I am go go go, baby. I've yet to find a plot or even a germ of an idea.

Oh. And I'd love to have a meet up sometime.

Hey all. Mayfield girl here. My Newcastle writing buddies and I will possibly be hanging out in Goldbergs on Darby street in Newcastle, cause there's a great vibe there, better coffee and even better food.

Good luck to all Novocastrians!

Hey. I'm from around Newcastle.
Lake Macquarie more specifically. Never done this before, and now thinking it was maybe one of those spair of the momment ideas to sign up. Currently suffering from sereve writers block and have absoutely no idea what to write, but I plan on doing this anyways (despite the four 2000 word essay i have due in the first ten days of Novemeber). I think the meet idea is awesome!

Good luck everyone!

Hey I'm from Waratah, and we should definitely have a meetup. Goldberg's is great, anyone had their chai? Or somewhere a little less centre-city for those edge-of-towners? (I'm easy wherever though.)

Wondering here if anyone has suggestions for a time and place to arrange a write-in? We should deffo do one in the first week, if everyone's amenable.

I was thinking maybe Wednesday during the day, or Thursday? Is this bad or good for anyone? Where is good?

I can't do week-day, day-time events as I work those times. I am struggling to think of a venue for a write-in that has both lots of space, powerpoints and caffein! Suggestions? I am happy to travel. Someone might need to bite the bullet and say HERE at THIS TIME. Should I come up with a venue, I will let folk know.

10 minutes to go. Good luck to all.

Hey. I live about 45 minutes north of Newcastle. Have you heard of Port Stephens?
I don't know anyone who is doing this, actually. Not that I asked anyone. I got bullied to do it by my best friend, who, for reasons I do not understand, believes I am a good writer.
*sigh*
ah well.

Where in Port Stephens are you? My son lives down that way. Good luck with your writing.

Two days, I'm thinking of this week:

Either Thursday, or Saturday, and probably have a 10/11am start?

Problem is: where? How long do we intend to be there?

We could go to a cafe on Darby or Beaumont Streets. We could go to a park (near Beaumont Street, Civic Park, King Edward Park, the park at Jesmond, whatever it's called, the foreshore in town or at Warner's Bay...). Heck, we could go on campus at Jesmond, and use the power points in the Brennan Room, on Thursday at least.

I know that my baby laptop has four hours of battery, and I think that other people's computers would be the same, if not more, so we probably don't really need powerpoints, I guess.

Anyway: What do you think, people? When/where/how long should our gathering be?

Also, hope everyone's powering along, I'm not doing too bad atm.

I, being a total Luddite, don't have the power point problem (though I obviously have other problems ... *rolls eyes*) Soooo. Any of the above? Anyone else interested? Guys?

... Guys?

Eeep.

Saturday is good for me (as I just found this thread), and I'm an easy walk from anything in the city. I believe I'm supposed to be sock shopping on saturday but that can be put on hold.

EDIT: Concerning power points there is an internet cafe on Beaumont Street in hamilton by the name of LAN-FX that should have enough power-points for a group with laptops. However, last I checked they only had 3 laptop 'bays' despite a plethora of empty sockets.

University house, by Civic park has a lot more spaces in their info common. I dunno how they'd feel about non students using them though (But it's not like you can access the network without a username and password). Also, being exam season there may be no spaces available even on a saturday. I dunno if the city library has any free sockets...

Hi Guys,

I can't join you in your get together but hope all goes will for you. If you find it hard working in for everyone to meet you could have online word sprints through yahoo, gmail or hotmail chat lines. Some of my friends both here and in the US do this all the time, we write for 15 to 30 mins then rest for 30. Writing starts on the hour so anyone can join in at anytime. Just a thought.

How are you going with your writing? I had a slow start put have picked up my pace the last two days. I hit the 13,000 mark tonight and hope to be on the 20,000 by the end of the weekend.

Hi All

Im from Valentine in Newcastle and this is my first go at Nano! Im quite enjoying it though have some massive word count to make up before the end of the month.. fingers crossed i make it. Have been meaning (wanting) to write for a while and put it off, then something comes up to inspire me, this time its Nano. Its actually the first time ive heard of it. Seems to be a great resource for writers. Im surprised how quickly the words are spewing out of me, fingers crossed i can keep it up!

Nice to meet you all!

Hey guy's,
Just wondering how you are all going. i have 7,000 words to go and boy am I looking forward to this being finished. I have to say this is the first time I struggled with a challenge from start to finish. Hoping to be done by tomorrow night, well the 50k part at least I'll still need another 50 to 70k to get the thing finished.

Happy writing everyone

Hi everyone,

Well its over, I didn't make the 50k this year, but I sure am pleased with how much I did do. And there's always next year. Congrats to all who made it and to all who gave it a shot!

I'm off now to keep writing, got a novel to finish.
