Is anyone going to be writing in Elk Grove on Saturdays? My fiance (Sam) has a job teaching at a middle school there, now, and he goes in to do prep and cleanup on Saturdays. Usually I go with him and work in the office at his shop a bit, but during NaNo it would be neat to hit a write-in. I know there's a bistro thing nearby that supposedly has free internets.

I'd be there almost all day on Saturday. He usually goes in in the morning, and stays 'till evening, maybe around five.

I'll be writing in Elk Grove. Port City coffee is a nice place, and I'm pretty sure they have Wi-Fi. Although, I'm one of those people who does NaNo on a Neo so as not to be distracted by email and YouTube. :) I'd love to get together and write.

I love the idea of a Neo, but I have 3 concerns:
1. Is it difficult only viewing a few words at a time?
2. Can you copy it to your computer on a Word file at some point?
3. How do you print it out?

Thanks for your help.

I found that limitation helpful for drafting. I could see just enough lines to give me context to keep going. I used a "six line" bold font that I downloaded somewhere.

Yes, the Neo comes with software that you can use to transfer files to and from your computer. And you can also push a button on the Neo and have it type your document into your computer into whatever software you like.

The Neo has a USB connection that will connect (only) to a printer. I never used that. I transferred my files to my computer, and printed from there.

Is Saturday good for you? I can check where Port Coffee is, but I suggested the Bistro place because it's really near the school where my fiance works. Also, it serves food, which is good for me, because I'm going to be there through lunch, and possibly to dinnertime if he loses track of the time.

Sorry, I don't know where the bistro is. Could you let me know the address? Which part of Elk Grove is it by? You didn't mention in your post which school your fiance works at. Otherwise, Saturdays work for me, too. :)

My daughter and I will meet you there too. We live just outside Galt so Elk Grove works great on Saturdays.

I'm nervous about mentioning the school (not like people won't figure out what it is, but either way), because students there might stumble on this post searching for their school name, or parents. I don't want my fiance to wind up being judged by me, since I can be quite disreputable when I'm not being a Good Girl.

It's at 8694 Elk Grove Blvd. It's a La Bou Cafe -- I don't know why I thought I saw the word 'Bistro', although we were driving by pretty fast, so I might have confused the B word. No idea.

Anyway, the website says they have free WiFi. They're also really near 99.

That's okay. You don't have to mention the school. I just didn't know where it was that you wanted to meet. I could meet at LaBou, though. That's close enough for me. They used to have great mango iced tea. I haven't been there in years, though. I'll try to drag my NaNo friend along, too.

Awesome. I'll make sure to prod him into working on his shop on Saturdays in November :) I might not make it every Saturday, dependent on whether I can get him off his butt.

The shop still needs plenty of work, so it's not like there'd be nothing for him to do.

Hey, anyone interested in doing pre-planning this Saturday? I missed a writing day today because the internets in Common Grounds are broken, and writing without internets makes me a crazy person. So I'm thinking that I'm going to try and talk Sam into going into Elk Grove this Saturday. Normally, I'd set up shop where he's cleaning up, but I could theoretically hit the cafe instead, especially since the shop doesn't have internets that I can use for telnet. (I am such a geek.)

*bump*

Anyone interested in meeting me in La Bou this Saturday for pre-planning. I'm going into Elk Grove to write, and I'd originally planned to do it in my fiance's shop while he works on getting some painting done, but if anyone's interested in meeting me at La Bou, I can go there.

I can try, I'd just need to figure out transportation since I don't drive.

I'd love to, though. My dad is kind of in the area, my grandma (who I live with now) is closer to Sac City college, but I can try and figure something out. Hopefully.

If y'all are meeting in the afternoon I'd love to meet other NaNo folk. La Bou works for me; there are other free wifi spots in town too, if need be.

I'm going to be at La Bou tomorrow. I'm behind again (sigh.) so I need to get lots done on Saturday. I'll probably be there late morning to late afternoon-ish.

Anyone want to join me?
