Hello Lakewood folk!
We get together every Saturday at the Colorado Mills Borders Cafe in November. Before November... we just kind of tentatively schedule stuff.

I have a bunch of students in Lakewood, some of whom I am going to try to get to do NaNo. Okay if I direct them to your meetings?

I am new to this writers group and am interested in getting to gether with others in the group; I live very close to Border's where you will be meeting and am looking forward to meeting everyone. Can I ask what the age ranges are in the group? I am 51 and want to make sure I will be accepted and fit in. See you in November!!

Charris, don't worry about fitting in and being allowed and whatnot...there's no age limit to NaNo! And if it's just a personal comfort issue, we do have a pretty wide range of ages in the Denver area participants. Two years ago I had a 68-year-old woman show up to a few of the write-ins, and while there are generally more college-aged people participating around here than other age groups, most of the write-ins and meets will have a decent mix of people from young high schoolers up through adults with grown children. So feel free to stop by and I'm sure that everyone will make you feel welcome!

I turn 40 on Friday - I'm not far behind. ;-) The nice thing about a diversity of people is that you can get lots of different opinions and perspectives on things. I find that people outside my age group (in either direction) think of things that I would never even consider.

23 here, but I have a lot of friends that are significantly older than me. I don't really know why...

Our age range is from... eight? I guess Justin might be closer to eleven, but I'm so clueless, I should know better, to about upper thirties (well, me. I'm not sure about Karen). We don't mind experience! By all means, come and join us.

Hi!
Nano newbie here; the name's Jenny. This is my very first year writing, and I was hoping I'd find some kind of meetup to go to. The Mills is fairly close to where I am, so I might just have to stop by and check things out!
Should I look for anything in particular, or just a big group of people?

I'll try to talk Karen into bringing Snert - but we're usually over by the doors, with laptops.
I'll have a red quilted purse (big enough to put a laptop in) and either an AlphaSmart, or a red file box that holds 4x6 cards.

I am a newbie to the Lakewood area. I come from Kansas and came to CO for the college experience. I am relieved to find a Nano group here in Lakewood and Mills is very close, so that is a relief. I am 18 and a freshman and this is my 3rd year noveling for NaNo. All of my writing buddies are back home, so I might have to stop by on a Saturday for some non-email support. I am very much looking forward to this year, and just want to start writing at this very moment.

Hey guys! It's Alison y'know the one who keeps saying she'll show for meetings and never does? LOL anyway i kept meaning to come by but it seems like work is an evil demon that must be shot down in order to get me to come. Luckily though i should be free that first weekened but i know that i won't be the second one. *sigh* BUT i finally finished a novel that i started during Wrimo and it came to be just over 150,000 words. I'll be there this year- notebook and all.
Can't wait to see you guys at 10:30 this saturday!
~Alison

I think I may join your group in Lakewood. That's much closer to me than Denver proper. I live in Littleton. And on the subject of age I just turned 30 on the 23rd!

Silly question (and I swear I posted this in here)-- do I need to bring a laptop? I don't own one, personally, but if I really need to bring one, my mom's going to let me borrow her's. I just don't want to show up and be the only one without a laptop. Of course, I could always be completely crazy and bring a notebook and handwrite...

there are no write-ins or meetings where you HAVE to bring a laptop...a notebook is just fine. I fact there are lots of nanos that hand write the whole thing and type it in later.

Awesome, thanks! And I couldn't imagine doing that-- hand writing during these meetups is going to be bad enough.

Just signed up about 5 minutes ago. It is great to see so many writers in the area. I joined to support my local writing chapter that usually does Book-In-A-Week. Would love to meet on Saturdays, but alas, have fencing on Saturdays. Still, I live close to the area, so you never know...

I live pretty close to the Mills, so I shall join your group this Saturday and whenever possible after that.
I am also without a laptop; planning to do the notebook thing.
Just one probably silly question:
... About what time do you guys usually finish?

Who's who (whom?) in here?
I'm Claire. Long dark hair. Last weekend it was up and curly (because of Halloween). Have a laptop, sat by LadyVivamus (I am so sorry, LadyV I have completely forgotten your Earth name) and across from Nami (Sarah).
I was the one who wrote the Horribly Written Space Adventure Jill was talking about, and last year I did zombies.

Claire-- my "Earth name" (love that term, stealing it) is Diana, but I don't care if you don't remember it. ;)
I'm one of your friendly neighborhood MLs, and if you saw me at the meetup, I'm the one with the REALLY TINY COMPUTER.

I would love to meet up on a Saturday, but I work retail and thus am trapped at the Cherry Creek Mall all day on Saturdays. If anyone has any interest in meeting up on a Monday or Tuesday those are my usual writing days.
But for everyone meeting at the borders at the mills, if you encounter a guy in the cafe with long curly blond hair by the name of Jeremy, order coffee from him because he rocks! (And I'm not biased because he's my husband). Trust me, he takes great care of the writers even if you just want lots of free water.
