Anyone else here from Dubuque? I'm here for school, but also spend some time in the Quad Cities with my parents; I was hoping to maybe find some other writers in my area, though :S

There are a few of us around... I'm still debating whether or not I have time to attempt to do NaNoWriMo this year or not. Last year was my first attempt, and after getting off to a good start, I failed miserably and didn't finish. I know I have some friends who are planning on doing it though.

Which school do you go to? I'm a Timesaver student at Clarke, myself....

Good to know I'm not the only one... and usually I haven't reached 50k words either when I tried, but hopefully this year will be different; which genre are you thinking about writing for if you do it? I'm thinking fantasy myself... less concern over rules and stuff, I guess :S

I go to UD, and only know like one person at Clarke... but that's awesome nonetheless :)

I'm also in Dubuque! Attempting a traditional mystery this year. Good luck to all of us!

UD here too. I'm probably going to be doing a fantasy/Sci fi as well. Last year I broke half way, but I didn't have internet access like I do now, so maybe I'll do better. Or facebook will squash any chance.

I'm in Wisconsin, but only about 15 minutes straight up 151. I'm always happy to attend write ins and other activities, as long as people don't hold the state line against me :)

FYI, there's starting to be a pretty big group of writers in Platteville, WI, mostly based out the university. We'd certainly welcome Dubuque expats.

I'm in Dubuque, funnily enough getting my final 3 credits at ISU via an online course at NICC. At any rate, I'm not 100% sure I'm going to try the WriMo, but assuming I do, I'm in the area and certainly up for some meet-ups.

I'm in Dubuque as well. Write ins sound lovely as I can always use a little extra support and someone to make sure my ideas aren't totally cracked out.

So what exactly is a write-in? A time when we converge and take over somewhere to sit, write, and hang out? I'm still a n00b, but that sounds like fun, if anyone was game :)
