Kickoff:
When? October 26, 2008 2-5pm
Where?
The Panera at Henderson and High (Clintonville)
4519 N High Street
Columbus, OH 43214
Why?
Free stuff! Well, that and the chance to meet the other people who you'll be meeting in front of the computer off and on again for the next November so it'll be a great time to meet and greet each other. There will be games, goodies and information that should getting together easier, like table tents, and banners and flags and flares (well, not the flares insomuch).
The Official Write-Ins!
When? November 2nd, 9th, 16th 23rd and 30th
Where: Panera at Bethel
875 Bethel Road
Columbus, OH 43214
Why?
Write-ins are known for having great record breaking moments in people's novels. They're especially wonderful come week two when things start to get down and uptight. Not only are you writing in writer-friendly environments but you are also out of your normal comfort setting. I don't know why this works, but it does. I have an idea this year of trying out word-wars with others. Where you try to match another's word count with yours within a set time period. The person with the most words within that time, wins.

So many words, so precious little time.

Damn missed the kick off! =/ I'll have to try and attend at least one of the Write-Ins though!
This is my first year doing more than watching others' progress and merely contemplating joining the NaNoWriMo. =P

Hey guys. Had a nice time today. Who all was there? I was the one with the brown laptop and the brown and white shirt. (My name is Manna.)
Cheers!

It's not actually mentioned above, but the official write-ins are also from 2-5 PM. You can always check the calendar - there is a red link to it when you enter our regional forum.
I couldn't make yesterday's write-in, but I do plan to attend next Sunday.

Hi Manna:
I was there Sunday. Long curly hair - maroon long, sleeved shirt. I was over in the community room for awhile until a group with reservations knocked us out and then I joined the crew at the big rectangular table by the windows. Had my back to the window. Laptop has a "I heart NaNoWriMo" sticker on it.

So the write-ins are the same time as the kick-off? I'm not TECHNICALLY part of the Columbus region, but I'll be in Columbus when I'm home for Thanksgiving Break, which means I might be able to make it to the Nov 23 write-in.

Hi, Eirbear,
Yes, the write-in at the Bethel Road Panera Bread is 2-5 like the kickoff. =)
I'm not a part of the Columbus region myself. I drive 45-55 minutes to get there. But what the heck. It's worth it to me.
