Only the MLs have to share our real names, so don't feel compelled to do so, but at least give us something to refer to you by! My name is Edeyn -- that's pronounced just like the Garden of Note in many religions -- Edeyn Hannah Blackeney. I'm in Port Huron, and as a consequence, any write-ins I happen to host will be in that area. The other MLs will probably do the same. My username is pronounceable, it's just odd. Delayra: deh-LAIR-ah ... rhymes with Sarah!

I am going to spend the next couple of weeks getting write-in locations in this area, and am planning a kickoff party. :) More info on that when I have a concrete date/time/location.

Last year I was an ML in Kansas City, and the year before in Missouri :: Elsewhere. I've been in a different Home Region EVERY SINGLE year I've done NaNo:

  • 2004 - Detroit
  • 2005 - Charleston, SC
  • 2006 - MO :: Elsewhere
  • 2007 - KCMO / KCKS

I plan on setting up some Word Wars, and there will be head-to-heads and Word Races at write-ins, as well as ways to encourage breaking of the dreaded Writer's Blocks!

Just because you're not in PH, or the area of one of the MLs doesn't mean you can't hold your own Write-Ins -- post an announcement here with the date and time so that if there happens to be anyone nearby enough to meet up and write, they can be aware of when you plan to be there.

NaNo isn't supposed to be all work and no play -- it's supposed to be fun, too!

Hello!

I'm Taleah - and this is year four for me. I'm in Muskegon, and with my cohort in crime Ray - will probably be planning a lot of the fun out here. (we're not official, but we're working on that). We had a great group of late night coffee drinkers and novelists last year - and this year should be pretty awesome too!

Ket!

Good to see you! Edeyn will be planning quite a few write-ins in PH, so make sure you get to a couple! We are going to the Literarium again, and also to the Raven.

And, I still have your Spies and Espionage book!

I'm Karlene, from Macomb. This is my first year here with the NaNo. I'm quite overwhelmed with the prospect of writing 50k words in 30 days, but I see the challenge as a win/win scenario. I don't know what to expect, which is probably a good thing; I won't be disappointed, right?

Anyway, I am looking forward to learning about write-ins and such. Sometimes I feel like someone needs to take me by the hand and say, "This is what you do, follow me." Once I get my bearings, I'll be fine.

I'm Erin from Grand Traverse County, I'm at school down in GR, and I'm 19 ... and this is my first NaNoWriMo!
I'm still getting used to all the terms - WriMos, NaNovels
... so may I ask what ML stands for? I'm guessing they're leaders of some kind for the regions.

I'm Laura, from Battle Creek. Looking to connect with any other WriMo's in BC.

I've been writing for a lot of years, but this is my first time doing NaNoWriMo. I can't wait to get started, I've already got a character ready to rock and roll, and a plot sketched out.

Are we there yet?

Laura

Hi everyone! I'm Emily, and I'm from Gaylord. Right now I'm at Hollins University in Virginia, but I'll be home for Thanksgiving and the final stretch of NaNo. =D This is my fifth NaNoWriMo - I've finished the previous four times, but this year I'm not so sure of success, it being my first year of university and all. I'm going to try anyway!

Hey there, fellow NaNoers! I'm Anastaise and I'm from Southeast Michigan area. I live in a very small town that not many have probably heard of but to give you an idea I'm pretty close to Adrian. Last year was my first year for NaNoWriMo and I succeeded, I'm proud to say! This will be my second year. I hope to make friends with all of you Michiganders well we trek through this hectic yet fun month of November! Wish me luck, I'm going for 100k this year since I'll be attempting to write two novels!

Wow, looks like I'm finally getting around to this thread. :)

I'm Feeby and this is my second year doing the NaNoWriMo. I finished just in time last year having caught the flu twice and having to work a whole lot. This year I'm rebelling a bit and trying to use this time to finish and already began story- or at least get halfway through it as I'm thinking that another 50,000 just won't cut it.

Hmm, what else? Writing is my life but I do a little web design on the side with a community website for the strange, a writing site of sorts (still in the beginning stages), and a nicely rounded blog. I really don't know what to say... I kind of stink with these kind of threads on my own sites lolz.

Oh, yeah, I'm trying to get together a meet up or kick off party up in TC. So if you're in the area please- pretty please stop on by!!!

I'm Kalloway from the Port Huron area... Ket and I are actually very good friends who met through NaNo back in 2003. It turned out that we had quite a few similar interests and lately we've been getting together weekly for a 'Writer's Day' where we each work on some of our (many) projects!

This is my sixth year participating, and hopefully my sixth year as a winner! My first three years, I wrote about the same group of characters, my fourth year I wrote a fantasy novel, and last year I tried my hand at fanfic, which was fairly disastrous! But I still pulled through, somehow.

I look forward to attending write-ins this year. I'm really not sure how to classify this year's story yet... I'm excited about it.

Welcome back everyone! It's great to be back! I can't wait to get started!

Taleah, Coffee-Late night? I'm there!
Remember me? Diana here from Irons, MI.

I'm just patiently waiting for my halo to show up!

This is my third year, and I'm finally bringing in a couple more YOUNGER writers this year. ( I bribed them with a T-shirt, pin, and a sign up sheet! :)... Thank God for kids, and their friends huh?). And now were hoping to get down there to Muskegon to meet you, and Ray before the snow flies.

I noticed that there's a group in TC that sounds inviting too!

I'm excited!

Hi. I'm Ann from Indian RIver. This is my first NaNo; the first of many I hope. If there's anybody else out there who lives in the Tip of The Mitt, I'd love to meet you! Too bad Emily from Gaylord goes to college so far away. I feel like I'm all alone up here in the woods! Is it cheating to pre-write?

Hey there, I'm Nick. I live about 20 miles south of Traverse City, and this is my third NaNo. 2006 was my first NaNo -- our twins were born on Nov. 6, but I still finished. 2007 was no easier...1year old twins are no picnic...but I finished that, too, barely. This year I'm working on getting into grad school and have an entrance exam on Nov. 8, but I'll see if I can finish this year, too. I'll try to make a meet-up or two, but I dunno...in addition to the twins, we also have our two older kids, so time away is nonexistent.

Enough blah-blah from me...

I feel pretty stupid. I've been hanging out in the Muskegon forum wondering where everybody was. That's kind of how I missed all the parties in high school too.

Anyway. I'm Ray. I'm from the Muskegon area. I've done Nano for the last couple years and haven't technically won yet, but I have written ten novels outside of Nano. I mainly come here to meet other writers because I adore everything writing related -- with all my wittle heart. I eat sleep and breathe writing. In case I haven't made it clear yet, writing is my absolute number one, all time passion. (although I do have a wife and kids around here somewhere).

I said all that to say this: if anybody ever wants to discuss writing, or editing, or publishing, or books, I'm your guy. Please talk about writing with me. Please?

My name is Rebecca, but I sincerely don't mind going by Alu (Ah-loo). I live in Taylor, and have no real means of transportation, so from the looks of things you shouldn't expect to see me around. I've started nano before, but I have never completed it. I have no solid story ideas, but I hope I figure something out.

As of right now I'm rather sleepy and am going to retire to my room. Nice to "meet" you all!

Hi

I'm Beth, and this will be my second nano. I finished (yeah) in 2006, but last year I was caught up in an incredibly time consuming grad class with 3-D design modelling and decided I just didn't have the time to even try. This year--no school thanks to budgets--but nano is practically free! My 20 year old son has also pledged to try for his first time too.

We're out here in the sticks in Livingston County. Although we're used to hauling our tails to Ann Arbor or Lansing (yes, we're half way in between and cheer for both teams, although Sparty is on the screen saver of my green cell phone); we would love to meet up with nano'ers out here for a write-in or something.

Hello! My name is Caroline, and I did not know that Sharper Image was skin care or whatever products!
This is my very first shot at Nano, and I've been writing for about a year now. I'm really excited too! I live in Southwestern MI, so it's like the west coast/Calinfornia of Michigan. (so I would like to think) Also I'm close to South Bend, but not too close thankfully. (full of crazy drivers!)
I'm in the Band, at school, and State rules!

Hey I’m Beth; this is my very first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I love in Port Huron so I’ll be trying to make it to the write-ins – the shy girl with long brown hair and glasses – that will be me :D I’m a stingy writer which means I don’t like to share my work even when I’ve finished. I have written three other short novels so at least I’m not new to the writing part.

I'm Xumahare. If you get to know me, I might tell you my real name. Or if I become an ML.

I'm in the Big Rapids area, because GR is too far for me. I don't know if anyone would still consider this GR or not, but I'm up in BR more often. If anyone else is near me, please let me know. And I don't really want to be a Municipal Liaison, but I will if I have to.

Hey there. I'm Abbegail, from Traverse City. This will be my second year in NaNoWriMo. I didn't reach the goal last year, but I like to think it's only because I registered late. I got more than half way there, so I'm sure I can do it this time!

I'm weird. I use my real name as my screen name, because that's the name I write under. I'm from western Lenawee County. This is my second year doing Nano -- I did 250,000 words last year. But, I'm a compulsive writer -- I did just under 200,000 words in 19 days last month. I'm probably not going to push as hard this year as my wife is having surgery on November 3, and that's going to eat up a lot of my time.

Hello. I’m Mike from Alpena. This is my first NaNo. This is the first year where things like school and work and life have been under enough control to even think about participating.

I have a long history of being overly concerned with editing as I go…which means that I never get very far. I’m hopeful that NaNo will break me of that bad habit.

But today it was sunny and raining by my house- that makes me feel so special, haha. And there were some epic rainbows.
I'm so excited for this!

I'm Karissa - 19 years old and a sophomore at Saginaw Valley State University. This is my first year at NaNoWriMo; to be honest, I only found out about it yesterday. Ha, ha... But I've had a novel in preparation for over two years, and this sounded like the perfect opportunity to make some real, concrete progress. Even if the month's finished product is total garbage (which I suspect it will be), at least I'll have a more solid idea of where I want to take the story, characters, et al.

I just hope I have the motivation and time (exams, gah!) to finish it. I'm sure everyone's thinking along similar lines. :)
