Hey all... anyone else in Fort Wayne? the surrounding area? Well just asking because I am going to talk to a couple of Librarians I know at the Down Town Library about having NaNo parties there, and I would hate to be all alone!
This is also a thread for all things Fort Wayne and whatever you are doing here :)

Yay for Fort Wayne! Have fun at the party...I've got a couple friends who (I think) are doing this too, so we'll like go to Coldstone for inspiration or something...have our own little party, ha!

Hey there! I am down for a Nano Wrimo party in Fort Wayne sometime. We need to find more people me thinks though for the celebration. I know they have a set-up at the Glenbrook Borders specifically for Nano Wrimo books that talk about plot and characters, maybe this year that will inspire some more people to do it. =P

I think at least two of my friends are in too... but they didn't sound so excited... definitely more people... and favorite spots locally for inspiration and fun? I LOVE the Firefly!

I think we need to find out which days are best for everyone.
Then an estimate of people who will be able to attend would be cool.
So far, for places I've seen:
Firefly
Library
Cold Stone
I'm going to add IHOP.
We just need someone to organize a kick off party!

Where is Firefly at? I've never heard of it. I am going to throw Jefferson Pointe into the mix as well for kicks.

well what days are best for everyone?? Sunday afternoon/night and Saturday for me... I would think the library would be the best place because if we get a meting room we can bring food so long as we don't make a mess.... plus for those of us who don't have laptops we could use a library computer... But after that I like the Firefly the best, good drinks there...
So what are you all writing??

I would say Sundays as well.. probably.. so far they don't have my working Sunday and I don't have classes then. In all honesty I am bouncing between two ideas. I've been planning one Nano out for months now and the other one just came to me in one insomnia-filled night a few days ago.

The library sounds like a good spot for everyone's needs: computers, meeting room, coffee shop.
I also like to write/study at Panera at Jefferson Pointe and Espresso Cafe on Jefferson.
Sunday will work for me.

Sunday afternoons and Friday evenings are my open times. I've been pretty swamped with school lately. I've been trying to stay ahead so that I won't have to worry about it next month!

The downtown library has a nice little parking garage.

And they validate your parking if you are in the library; so you don't have to pay for it.

Hello ^_^ Another citizen of Fort Wayne, reporting in.
I agree that the library would be awesome, and I cast a second for Jefferson Pointe, too (it's so close to where I live that it's insane :D) JP might actually be easier for me to get to, though, all things considered.

I am planning on taking Saturday the 1st and making a day of it to get off to a really good start. I have been outlining and sketching for weeks. I am ready to go! I just hadn't decided on where I was going. I was thinking the library or Borders across from Glenbrook. I hadn't even thought of the FireFly but I love that place! Anyone interested?

do you think you're library friends would be able to hook us up? maybe set up a weekly time and reserve a bank of computers or something? or some tables at least? that would be pretty cool.

Hello. I'm new to Fort Wayne and to the forums (just joined nanowrimo today) and I would love to join in any writing sessions/parties. Don't know if I can make it this weekend. If I can't, I'll still be writing my little heart out starting Saturday at 12:01 a.m. I'm working on a literary novel, because I can't really peg it to anything else. I'll probably know more about it once the characters start really talking to me.
Btw, I haven't yet tried the Firefly, but I know where that is. It's right across the street from the place I've been getting my regular caffeine fix, Old Crown coffee roasters, which is just a few doors down from my other obsession, Sarah Jane's yarn shop. Old Crown's home brew is life saver on these dismal gray mornings. Not that I mind the gray so much after living in the oppressive Texas sun for seven years. I will have to give Firefly a try.
Take care and get lots of sleep this week, people.

Wow! It's soooo great to see people from Fort Wayne. In the past few years there seemed to be hardly any. Or at least I couldn't find them anyway. I would love to be in a group like you all are takking about. Location doesn't matter to me. (I'll have to check out The Firefly and those other places that are listed. Never been there.) Although, at the library I don't know how much interaction we could have with each other. I am sure you guys want there to be some socialization and not have it like a class where there's no talking allowed. lol
Is there anyone to organize it yet? There's this great website called Meetup at www.meetup.com where you can organize such a group, send out emails to everyone about the when and wheres, and even get rsvps from people.
A second option would be also to start a Yahoo group. That I would be happy to moderate and what not if enough of you are interested. Maybe you all could give input on the name as well. You only get to pick it once.
I would be happy to help organize it the NaNo get togethers. I don't want to take full responsibility because I am the single mom of 4 kids but would be willing to help others with the organization.

I think using Meetup.com would be excellent! It would make getting everyone together so much easier!
Also, I think that if the weather's good, I might pack up my laptop and go hang out at Jefferson Pointe for a while this Saturday, outside the food court - or inside, if it's nasty out! I might even bring my sketchbook, too - I sometimes find it's easier for me to write a scene if I scribble down a visual representation of it, first, or even just doodle a character or two. Plus, I find that it helps to keep burnout from setting in :)

I'm from the Fort as well. I might be interested in meeting up, if I can free up the time - things are always crazy for me in November and I'm going out of town for a week to boot. But later on I wouldn't mind having some more people to trade manuscripts with for editing / review.

Helo lovely people! I hope you are all doing well now that we are about 3 days over with Nano. Hopefully you are staying on track because really.. getting behind it just gets more difficult to get back up. College is not helping me out cauuse I have 4 papers due before Thanksgiving and at least one speech to give. My hours are also getting upped at work by the week, but at least it gives me a lot of time to think there my story is trying to go.. cause I mean really.. plot.. where for art thou? =P

Hi! I'm also from the Fort . . . I've seen a lot of suggestions but no actual times. I'd prefer the library, since Jefferson Pointe is all the way across town for me, and I don't own a laptop. Otherwise, Firefly is the closest.
