Just tossing this out there.

AS a writer, I spend hours, sometimes days sitting in front of the computer and often forget to get up and move around to keep my joints well oiled. Because of this, I have back pain the likes you don't want to know.

Is anyone interested in meeting up to have a Chiropractic specialist give a few pointers on how and when to move away from the computer? How to sit with the least amount of stress to your neck and lower back?

Let me know and I'll set something up.

I think this sounds brilliant, and could be very useful. Personally, I participated in color guard for four years, and that paired with my computer addiction hasn't helped my back in the least. I'd be very interested in learning how to reduce back pain.

Around where are we talking about doing this? I'll drive to Ft. Worth for this, but it'd be good to have an idea of what part of the DFW area this would be in.

Well, I'm in Cedar Hill, and the Doctor I was thinking about asking works here, but I'm sure that where ever we deside to meet up would be fine. We could also go to the Doctor's office and meet there. We just need to get a head count and figure out where we're wanting to meet.

This sounds great - I know I'll need it!

Do you think your dr would have a handout or flier (with tips, general back-injury-prevention-tips) we could post on the website, for people who couldn't make it out to the session?

Thanks for thinking of this!

:) Criss.

I know he has a flyer. I'll go by his office tomorrow and pick one up.

Do you already have a chiropractor for this? Because I'm married to one, and I can see if he'd like to do this.

ETA: Sorry. For some reason I didn't see the rest of the posts. We're in Richardson, and I have a chiropractor here too if we wanted to have more than one of these in a different area.

It would be great if we could have someone at the Kick-Off to give us a few tips, pointers, and warnings before we get started.

Nancy, how'd you get so lucky? Married to a chiropractor? I can't even get my husband to rub my back. LOL.

As for where we meet. I'm up for anywhere. I do have one here, for those who can't make it that far, and having one there at the kick off sounds great. If you're can make it, let me know and I'll talk to mine.

Nancy and Jeannie:

Would either of your chiropractors be able to make it to the Kick-Off? We''ve finally settled on Sunday, October 26th, from 2:00-5:00 at the Half-Price Books on Northwest Highway. We'd love to have an expert there! We'll be in enough agony in November from the pain and torture of characters not listening and plot points not connecting, without adding to it the pain and torture of back pain and bad posture.

Unfortunatly, we would not be able to offer any monetary compensation for this visit... but there's always the promise of potential clients? (she asked hopefully, flashing her pretty-please-with-a-cherry-on-top smile...)

Thanks!!!
:) Criss.

Steve says he'll do it. (I didn't think I'd have any trouble getting him to go to Half Price. It's one of our favorite places.)

He doesn't mind not being paid to do this kind of thing. Chiropractors do a lot of this kind of thing. If it leads to clients, cool, and if not, he's still glad he helps people. I'll remind him to bring cards.

I like to tell people that I made a chiropractor from what I had around the house. I put him through school, and in turn he put me through law school. : ) We've made good investments in each other.

Of course, getting him to work on me after he's worked on other people is the hard part.

Since you've got your guy for the kick off, for those who can't make it that night, mine said any time someone would like to go there for a tour and a quick instruction, he'd be more than happy.

He's also given me a few flyers on postures and how to care for your back. I'll post them as soon as I can get my scanner to work again.
