Hey! So I'm a SCAD student and the president of the writing club there, Writers' Block. We're planning on hosting an open-mic evening on Halloween night followed by a NaNo write-in as midnight rolls around. It'll most likely be at The Metro Coffee House on MLK. It's really not a big official thing, so anyone's welcomed really. I know there will be at least a few SCAD kids from the club, but I'd love to see people there even if you're not a student!

Cool! It sounds like fun, (only wish I had a laptop, but I CAN write longhand). I'll have to check to see what's on for that night/morning, but I'm a definate maybe. Is this going to be an all-night thing? I haven't been to Metro very often, so I have no idea what their regular hours are...
I'm really starting to get excited about NaNo!!!

Writing longhand would be very impressive indeed! The Metro closes around 2am, so it won't be an all-night thing, but I'm definitely game for that two-hour stretch!

I used to only be able to creatively write in longhand, (then I discovered the ease of revising on computer!), and still sometimes take my notebook and pen to write in one of the squares, cafes, or overlooking the river.
I'd be walking, so I don't know if I'll make the midnigh Write-In, unless I can get a ride, but even if I'm at home, I'll write.
Happy NaNoing!

Hello,
I just got here (Georgia) a week ago and ever since I arrived I've had this recurring dream in which I'm sitting in a coffee shop and suddenly the exits seal shut and the shop fills will black coffee and I drown in it and die.
If you can guarantee at least a 60% chance of that not happening, I will definitely try and make it.

Hey,
I am also a SCAD student and think this is a great idea. The only thing is I have to try and balance the film fest with Nano.
(All well as all the work.)
I am not sure if I can make it to this write it, but I will try. Any idea if you are planning others later on in the month?

InvaderJim -- I can guarantee you 79% that that will not happen, but I can only give a 50% protection against zombie attacks. It is Halloween night, after all.
Torchwood -- I do want to try for more write-ins into November, but there will never really be a convenient time since we head on into finals pretty soon after. If you're interested, I will definitely be announcing any other scheduled write-ins in the Writers' Block blog, but I'll likely also announce them here, so no worries on being informed if we try to schedule anything else. :3

I just joined for the first time...and just my luck, I'll be out of town for Halloween weekend. However, I am taking a flash drive with me, so if the urge to create comes this weekend, I can hijack a computer somewhere and get started.
I'll try to make one of the other events!
